iPad Stream Fishing!

It makes stream fishing so much easier and faster when you're trying to get something specific. ^^

I don't deal with the iPad if I can at all help it. (frankly, I don't touch any apple product I can avoid. I have to fix the annoying things every day for my job. Never let anyone tell you that apple products don't break. They do, badly.)

As far as the iPad goes, I can't see what use I'd have for such a device. I have a book reader that does it's job better than the iPad reads books, and is easier on the eyes. The touch pad is of zero use to me for anything I do on the web (including stream catching, it's still reaction time whether it's mouse clicking or finger tapping there is no noticeable improvement on either system.). The interface has it's own adaptation curve and is not one I'm particularly fond of though that is largely personal preference. It has insufficient memory to be useful in many of my preferred hobbies. It's internet is slower than my home computer and much less useful since it can't hack flash. It doesn't have the memory for any useful programs. Most apps aren't robust enough for what I want to do. It's price tag is prohibitive for the limited utility I'd get out of it. Yes, I've messed with an iPad, admittedly it was at work and somewhat limited, but it simply didn't do enough things well enough for me to really see what function it might have. I'm not sure how, with the slower connection speed the iPad has, and the abject lack of improvement the touchscreen offers over a mouse, it would be an improvement (in general rather than in specific individual cases) over a computer for stream hunting.

@merkwerkee: No, "can't hack flash" = "can't handle flash" That may wind up changing but right now Apple has decreed flash is 'obsolete technology' and refuses to support it... never mind how many sites out there use it. They'll probably wind up loosing this argument give how immensely popular Flash currently is. I just really haven't been impressed with the iPad, especially not enough to spend just under half my take home pay (and 90ish percent of my monthly discretionary money) on something that, for me, would be pure snob value rather than something practical and useful. I'm actually hoping Acer will take the iPad as a challenge, they're working on solid-state computing right now, and if they get it working well they could build an iPad shaped full computer.

@jandor: I wouldn't be surprised if others do use the iPad for this, you've seen my reasons for why I do not.

I concur. Mine was like, 60 dollars, and catches a lot easier than tapping my trackpad or my home computer's mouse My boyfriend is very jealous, lol.

I actually got an iPad because I use it for a lot of work functions. I'm an radio comms technician working with 1st nations reserves in the middle of nowhere in Northern Alberta. When I'm not doing that, I double as network admin for three schools, and wear yet another hat as the IT consultant for the local tribal gov't.

My thought process went as follows;

I need a GPS.

I need a decent E-Reader.

I'm actually not a fan of E-Ink. I'm sure there are better options than the iPad, but it does my job.

I also want a mobile browsing device.

I also want something that I can enter field data on, as well as something I can use to RDP into my client machines via 3G when I'm on the road. There are times that my laptop is just too annoying and bulky.

The iPad does all of that charmingly well. Cost really wasn't a factor to me. I already have a laptop to do a laptop's job, and a desktop to do a desktop's job.

iPads are one of those things you have to have in your hand to appreciate, I feel. I don't think they are for everyone, though.

But it fills my needs better than any other product on the market.

This is my biggest greviance with the device, but since it's a work device for me, I can't complain so much.
I expect this is going to change once competition comes out. Before long, I'm going to jailbreak my iPad for the purposes of using flash on it once the people doing the dev work on it get a little farther along. it is there and has been proven to work.

Stupid I have to JB it for it, but meh.
