Dumb newb questions =)

`lo all, I have some more dumb newb questions... Ive read the faq sheet but havent really found the answers yet.. here we go:

1) What are lineages?
2) Why would anyone want to freeze their creature?
3) How does breeding work; do I have to wait for all of my critters to grow up, then breed them with someone elses critter?
4) Can one species be bred to another to create a whole different creature or is it all same species to create same species breeding?
5) Why do most people have so many of one type of creature? (Eg. 12 Koi...)
6) I can only have 4 eggs, how do others have so many?

I realize all of these questions are probably super tedious and annoying... so If anyone can point me in the direction of the answers that`d be great,

1) What are lineages? Lineages are created when you breed two creatures, click the "create family" link and then when an egg is produced, you have created a lineage, essentially a family.
2) Why would anyone want to freeze their creature? People freeze for many reasons, some like the look of an egg, others cause they got an undesirable result (like breeding brown direwolves in the hopes of getting an albino) Others just cause they like the looks of the eggs and want to use them as place markers.
3) How does breeding work; do I have to wait for all of my critters to grow up, then breed them with someone elses critter? You can breed in your own keep or with someone else. You have to have two compatible creatures (normally of the same species) Then, when they are adults you click the breed button
4) Can one species be bred to another to create a whole different creature or is it all same species to create same species breeding? And yes, so for instance normal gryphons and phoenixes breed to create fire gryphons.
5) Why do most people have so many of one type of creature? (Eg. 12 Koi...) Some people just like to create personal armies of creatures Some, like Koi, are used to breeding (Koi breed capricorns.

The Emerald Hatchery has a list of potential hybrids that can be bred, as well as what parent creatures will be needed to create said hybrids.

More browsing around there has lists of most all creatures and all infos on them evar.

Also, to add a personal touch to questions 2 and 5;
2. I like to freeze eggs because I want to send them to Belmos and piss him off. I also like to freeze Platypode eggs because I love the look of them and use them to separate my lineages. I also have a record for having the most Platypode eggs frozen at 0.00%.
5. I have a pair of each stream/shop/hybrid creature (well, its in progress) because I just want to have a complete collection. I also have extras of these creatures because I obviously arent going to just hatch two eggs from every egg. Plus, some eggs gender wrong. And I also like to collect Direwolves because, like everyone else, I love them. I think I currently have something like 50 direwolves at least. And thats not even the most. Some people have well over a thousand of some creatures.
