So I have been a Magistream user for about five years now, but have been on a very long break. Over that time I have changed a lot (including writing style, interests, and let's face it, grammar.) and have decided to give this whole thing a try again. Recently I have been trying to get back into writing poetry and I thought that this may be a place where I can express that part of my life and get any sorts of feedback or criticism.
Most of my poetry is better as spoken word, but I will try to break it up in ways that you are able to read it how it would be said.
Now with all of that, I hope that you enjoy!

Hearing your heart beat

Hearing your heart beat,
Who would think that one piece of meat,
Could make me feel like I have a purpose,
Bringing this unknown love to the surface,
Making me feel things that I have never felt before,
Because all I have ever felt before,
Is the piercing of a needle going through my flesh as I sew my heart together I have gotten used to the gore,
The pain that had taken over me,
The thing that I was made to see,
As normal, I guess just another lie that my twisted life led me to believe,
But as I kiss you I am led to believe,
The fact that someone might be able to love... me,
Something I had believed as impossible,
But this feeling rushes over me and now I just feel unstopable,
No matter how many times we touch my heart will always skip s beat,
Making me feel like a child getting excited about sticking their feet in a creek,
Somethiing so small and unnoticeable,
As the brush of your fingers against me skin makes me feel audible,
As though my love and my words are finally being heard,
Even though I know that my love is so much less than what you deserve,
But I suppose all I have to give in return,
Are hugs, kisses, and some pretty words,
I look forward to all the days that I get to spend with you,
No matter how many or how few,
But a part of me, no matter what, will always love you.

I've never been the artistic type,
But I'm good at staying up at night,
Thinking of useless things,
And liking to think that I can sing,
But I know that I can't sing,
I'm only really good at procrastinating things,
I bump into chairs and cut corners too close,
But one of the things I mess up the most,
Are compliments,
Whenever i try i just seem incompetent,
It's as though you all took some kind of class,
And forgot to invite me or I forgot to ask,
Though the kind of compliments I want to give,
Are not easily said or easily lived,
For how do you compliment someone on their soul?
Some of these people need more control,
Shooting their mouths which are guns,
Yet these people with beautiful souls are going around helping anyone,
And if i am to say just one thing,
It is that someday they will be something,
So much more than what they were made to believe,
And that is something I cannot wait to see.
