It seems to be pretty random, if only because there's so many different species of crystalwings. Someone said they got a doni crystalwing, those I imagine are a much rarer occurrence.

From my understanding, Donis dropping from flowers was a programming error that was patched shortly after it was discovered, but the people that managed to get them within that small window got to keep them; per Rosehill:

Regarding the Iluntz and Avgi Crystalwings: those were not supposed to be gotten from throwing flowers, and throwing flowers no longer gives them out. The people who got them from flowers prior to this get to keep the ones they got.

Along with the Koi, they've always sort of been a mascot of the site. The first donation pets were Crystalwings, too. They're also a fairly original species rather than being based in mythology like a lot of the early pets, which also made them feel special.


Y'know, I love the flower throwing, but I still don't think any site event will ever compare to the glorious chaos that was the April Fools snowball fight of '12...

Snowball fight? What happened there? The influx of all of these hatchlings is chaos enough for me right now, haha.
