Though um. I am not meaning to make trouble with just joining. When you are saying "having a certain part" are you meaning to exclude trans guys? I am not trans but I have a few friends who are and I would feel sad if they could not join me here some day. Or other guys like them! They absolutely do NOT have cooties!
And anyone can have my soul that wants it. I do not think I'm using it?
Ugh so not ready to start school again Monday. Hey! Do you think having my soul eaten could get me out of classes? Juuust wondering.

Well, this is the guy guild, so it brings about the question: What is considered a "guy"ZerKo wrote:Though um. I am not meaning to make trouble with just joining. I have no problems with transexuals, but this is my opinion on the matter.
Male to female, no.
Female to male, yes.
But, we should heavily consider what the person considers themselves.
I said this a couple days back, and I'll say it again. The name "Guy guild" is all-encompassing.
I say it's good to have variety.
So, I'll rephrase my statement: If you have a metaphorical penis, you're acceptable.
Though, I don't speak for the whole guild.
Anyone wanna add anything or pelt me with different opinions?
The soul is pretty much useless, though tasty.ZerKo wrote:And anyone can have my soul that wants it. I do not think I'm using it?

Nope. I'll make sure to write to your school saying that though you're souless, you're perfectly fine to go to school!
Maybe I'll send them a bit of my crushed soul pie?
Same here. But it doesn't matter.Noodles wrote:Derp. My winter break has been so unproductive.

Yeah, my sister's a senior. Also had to do 'em college apps. :/
Regarding the rules for what defines a member of the guild, I'm gonna have to toss this question to PaleoMage, if he wants it? x) Not sure how to answer it, and who has final authority. As the founder, I'd think he has final say.

In other news, I just watched Elfen Lied from beginning to end. Amazing despite excessive blood. The story rocked!
But it made me sad TT_TT
Because I got curious and looked up the manga ending.
RUINED IT.
EDIT: Though the story was still incredibly sad as a whole.

'What defines a male'
'A penis of any sort'
That's all I can say, without a major feminist type rant happening. Which no-one wants to hear.

Would hate to see trans guys excluded since then this would cease to be a guild for all guys in MS as gender is more than just genitals. When I meet people and see them as either male, female or something else I tend to do that without checking inside their pants or skirt So I would know nothing about their genitals, but I do know how they express themselves, how they call themselves and how they behave and want other people to behave toward them. And I go by that as well as everybody else. It's funny how all that often stops mattering when it comes to a trans person, suddenly everyone acts like they would go around peeking in the pants when meeting new people when it reality, compared to everything else in a person genitals mean very little. I know someone who's grandfather lost his happy things in war. That didn't make him somehow stop being a man and most people never knew the truth, especially since he already had children before that happened (hence why my friend exists ).
And if you would define 'guy' by what genitals they were having, would you then be including trans girls? Who most definitely are not guys and would be hurt by such implications
Okay, cranky old man is going back to watch the lawn (or write an essay, watching the lawn just seems way more interesting that that).

Dang it, Noodles, why did you have to drop this one on me? I was going to make you deal with it. ...Wellll, not really, but I was considering it.Libahunt wrote:Would hate to see trans guys excluded since then this would cease to be a guild for all guys in MS as gender is more than just genitals. Anyway. Obviously someone who was born male, regardless of whether or not he is still in possession of his... physical identification, if you will, would be welcome. In the case of transexuals... I can't quite say. To me there seems to be something fundamentally wrong about it, but that's probably because I would believe that you're supposed to be whatever gender you're born as. But I guess in the end I don't really know. Do we judge people by what they feel like on the inside, or what they are..? Neither of those views can work universally...

Re: The Guy Guild 2.0 [Members, Please Help!]
How people identify themselves is who they really are. Gender is one thing that can't be changed by will or nurture. That's been proved by cases where boy child was raised as a girl after losing his penis as a baby and the high suicide rates of transgendered. But I'm not going to argue, it's your guild and you set the rules how you feel best. If I feel uncomfortable with the rules I just don't have to follow the group as I don't want to be part of something that discriminates against people for how they were born.
(Also, many people think being gay is fundamentally wrong. That doesn't make that to be so)

Hmm, well I think we'll abide by the current rule that if you identify yourself as a male (or Kraken that claims to be male) on MagiStream, then you may join. I think this covers the base of transgenders who were born without male genitals but identify themselves as male because I'd assume if you identify yourself as male, you'd say you were/make that your gender online?
Does this sound alright to everyone?

Re: The Guy Guild 2.0 [Members, Please Help!]
I think that would be a good decision and something that goes along the feeling I usually get when I come to MS -> the atmosphere of friendliness and acceptance. Gender issues can be really hard to wrap one's head around if you don't have lot of experience with gender variancy and even then it can be challenging since the thought of not being the gender your body is too alien to relate to. I just try to go with respecting others by how they want themselves treated even if it feels weird at first.
I took this course about language and gender in uni last fall and we were bombarded with study after a study and all these different theories and while the course concentrated on language aspects we also had to give thought about what gender is about and how it's formed. It was quite an eye-opening experience and pretty good example about that was the professor herself who held that course: about half way to the course she said that when she before didn't believe in feminism, all the material we went through had made her change her stance on that and about gender. Binary just wasn't enough to describe gender or it's relation to biological sex. (Also, it's awesome when professors aren't so self important that they can't tell student when shared class changes their views.)
