After The Fact (entry)

When I first drank Kaidan's potion
I never even got the notion
When the feeling started spread
Didn't even think to dread
All the love within my heart
That would soon begin to part
All the sense within my mind
From the others of its kind

Love was spilling all around
From the clouds down to the ground
From the students back to me
All that reciprocity
Of the loveliness of love
Like a present from above
Then I heard a magic spell
But for what? I couldn't tell

"Ill begotten love be gone!
Let the sickness set upon
The civilians of this land
Be suppressed and then be drowned
Lovesick students, all be free
From this mad monstrosity!"
I blinked once, and cleared my eyes
To see confusion and surprise

"I suppose that was a spell?"
Asked the bookworm Maricelle
"Yes, it was," replied the mage
Who had taken centre stage
"As you loved and larked about
A counter-curse I did shout
Freeing all of you from that!"
"Thank you," replied Madame Pratt.

And the mage (don't know his name)
Received lots of press and fame
And, after the fact, all of us knew
The full story that was true.
Yet, that spell - 'twas pretty good -
Did the job he knew it would
And the keep's free of despair
Well, at least, until next year!
