Ok, this just sounds like fun. I might have to do it just to challenge myself.

besides half the fun is seeing what everyone comes up with.

I am curious as to why this requirement is in place. I am aware that in the "real world" of MagiStream they cannot talk, but as these are fables and legends the requirement doesn't seem so important.

There are many stories of real creatures in the world that can talk - Anansi the Spider, for starters, not to mention all the stories where a creature was really a mythical god or magical man in disguise.

I'm just curious if there's a specific reason for this requirement, as the best stories I've read in the submission forum have involved at least some dialogue on the part of at least one creature.
Not as active as I used to be.

I, also, am curious as to why this should be. Most of the legends I've read right up to the 19th and 20th century (Grimm's faerie tales and Rudyard Kipling's Just So Stories anyone?) frequently feature talking animals. In fact quite a few styles of story telling use "Once in the days when animals could talk" to denote a faerie tale. I've seen that one and "When animals can talk and faeries were real." Many of the Russian legends involve the character "Brother Wolf" who sometimes is a benevolent force of nature and some times an ensorceled human. In several Korean legends they are /completely/ about animals (the Hare who tricks the Dragon for example.)

If these are intended as histories, not legends, then the prohibitions make sense. But legends are suposed to include things that are not, quite, possible in the 'real world'.

Hmm... now that I think about it that isn't exactly what I meant to say.

I can't remember what I was trying to say, so I'll just take it out :t-noes:
