Image Hatchling (No dimorphism)

Creature 1477: Green Flame Strider

This small egg is almost too hot to touch.
Image Hatchling (No dimorphism)
Image Adult (No dimorphism)

All three have identical hatchling, adult, and general descriptions

Hatchling Description
Spoiler
Newly hatched, flame striders are incredibly small and transparent, making them difficult to see, but they grow rapidly and within a few days they have turned black. It's at this point that tiny veins of fire start to appear on their small bodies. Even at such a young age, a hatchling fire strider can control its power fully, so there is no need to worry of an accidental fire.
Adult Description
Spoiler
Unlike many other spiders, flame striders actually like to spend time with their magis, and they especially love helping when they can, enthusiastically jumping onto pots and pans that need heating or cooling, or even metal works that need melting. These spiders are very social creatures so it is always a good idea to have more than one, that way they will have company while their magi is gone. Although, keeping too many blue flames in a room can cool a room so much that it starts to snow inside and a mix of red and blue could make it rain inside.
General Description
Spoiler
The color of a flame strider is an indication of its heat. Red flame striders must be handled with special gloves, while blue is cool to the touch. Green flame striders however, can become hot enough to melt metal. Like most of their kind found around the keep, these animals are only popular with a handful of magis, as most find them creepy, and some flee from the room at the sight of them. Flame striders can be incredibly useful in potion making, though; by setting a red flame spider on the side of a caldron, it can bring the contents inside to a boil much faster than a normal fire. Likewise, if you sat a blue flame strider on the side, it will cool a potion down. Many magis who have the striders as companions will even use them as a way to keep themselves cool, or warm, outside.

Not necessarily a typo, given what creatures they are.
