So if you know anything about me, then you know I don't really do poetry. I don't like it and I struggle to write it. However, I had to write a bunch of poems for a class in college and some of them actually turned out pretty good...so I figured I'd share them. I'm always open to constructive criticism if you see something that you think needs some work! <3

What is Love?
Written 18 January 2019
So the prompt for this was based off of the true story of the friend of one of the girl's in my class. Her friend really liked this guy, but he was putting her through a lot of ups and downs. I really hope that things ended up alright for her, I never heard how her story ended.

What is love? I thought I knew...
All the time I spent with you!
But now I wonder, is this true?
No longer do I know what to do...

My heart soars, an eagle in the sky!
On top of clouds, way up high!
But you drag me down, into the dark...
A bird of prey caught a precious lark.

I want to leave, I really should go...
But maybe you care since you insist on no...
I feel like I should listen to my friend,
But what if it works out, in the end?

Another piece from my English class. Had to write based off of/following the style of another poet. Can't remember his name, but I believe the name of his poem was "Two Paths Diverged in A Yellow Wood".

The Forgotten Path
Written 28 January 2019

Two roads in the same forest, I'm told,
But only one is traveled by...
A well-worn road for the not-so-bold,
And a mystery path which my heart took hold.
Being a 'venturer, I wondered why

The forgotten path had taken root
Inside my wandering heart.
The fear of robbers who like to loot?
Convenient to clear dust from my boot?
No need to know, as I choose to depart....

Some may wonder where the forgotten path will go,
But I will not take the time to ponder.
No man can tell me how to grow,
Even if I choose to mature slow.
I walk my own path, down my lifelong river,

Taking all the time I need,
To live the way I want.
They cannot plant their evil seed,
Because I don't hear their taunt.
My life is mine, mine to lead...
