You do lose electrolytes after heavy exercise. Also from throwing up. If I'm sick and can only drink, then I tend to pick energy drinks. And it's not because of the sugar in them, because I've tried sugary drinks before with little help.
But I really don't understand when people get hyper off sugar.
Umbry are you okay.
I...don't think I've ever been hyper off sugar. Or coffee for that matter.

I don't think Gatorade is considered an energy drink, it's a "sports drink" just sugar water with some food dye and a really faint "fruit" flavor... I don't know, I think the stuff is absolutely disgusting :sweat: . But it's supposed to be really good for people who play sports to help replenish things like what's been discussed with the electrolytes and stuff. I just can't stand the taste <_<

But Gatorade is just sugar :derp:

But sports drinks and energy drinks are different.

Energy drinks tend to have like...a million cups of coffee worth of caffeine (over exaggeration) I don't think sports drinks have caffeine in them (or at least not nearly as much as energy drinks).

Gatorade is just sugar but it's flavored sugar and that's what counts.
Whenever I'm sick, my mom lets me drink a bunch of gatorade. I like to drink gatorade after regattas because ROWING and FEELING LIKE YOU'RE GOING TO DIE. :yey:

Sometimes I don't get hyper and sometimes I get REALLY REALLY HYPER.

Yeah, stuff like Gatorade is mainly sugar, water and electrolytes. They suggest not drinking them unless you actually exercise. Otherwise, they don't have any electrolytes to replenish and they're bad for you. I only drink it when I play softball or basketball. :derp:

Energy drinks on the other hand are mainly sugar and caffeine and have absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever. For me, that's the disgusting stuff. I can't even stomach a sip of that stuff. Ick.

I tend to exercise a lot, so I can basically eat whatever the hell I want. Well, at least I can during crew season, I have to be a lot more careful during off season. I shit you not, I'll eat everything I can get my hands on and still lose ten pounds because I row so much during the spring and fall. :derp:

I never drink energy drinks, I can't handle caffeine. I stick to gatorade.

Ill stick to soda myself. It's bad for you...but it tastes ok :D

I've never tried any energy drinks, the stuff just sounds horrible for you, and tea and/or hot chocolate tends to wake me up pretty well. *shrug*

My tongue doesn't like the bubbles in soda and so I graciously allow my tongue to live its life without having that feeling. XD

I don't drink them often (either sports or energy), just because I don't feel any compulsion to. I don't really do a lot of exercise (don't get the chance or time for anything fun), but I have a ridiculous metabolism so I can eat pretty much anything I want, haha. People get annoyed because I'm almost always looking for food.
