Umbramancer
Description- A Umbramancer is a very rare beast, the hybrid between a direwolf and a void dragon with the predatory skills of both. It has great magical powers, but these are restricted to the manipulation- and the ability to transform into- shadows. They are solitary and nocturnal by nature, prefering the mountains or the cold wastes to the north. Their ability to transform into shadows makes them hard to find and capture, as they can escape from any cage. When raised and trained, they are intelligent and cunning, but have short tempers and a cynical outlook on life. Wild Umbramancers are a dangerous enemy, with a taste for unwary travellers.
Egg- An Umbramancer's egg is black, with a marking like a lightning bolt in either white, blue or yellow.
Description- The egg is deep black and (white/yellow/blue) and soft to the touch.
Hatchling- The hatchling in much like a direwolf, except black and with a mane along the spine of white, pale blue or yellow. The legs are long and the head is draconic with a sharp snout. The eyes match the mane.
Description- Since the little cub hatched, it has been forever disappearing, only to be found in some shadowy corner. It rarely plays with the other hatchlings, preferring to explore the shady woods and sleep.
Adult- An adult Umbramancer is built like a skinny direwolf, but with long, thin legs and a long, whippy tail. The claws and teeth are unnaturally long and sharp. Its snout is pointed, and its ears are batlike. The coat of an Umbramancer is black, with an unruly mane running down its spine and tail, starting from the back of the skull. The colour of its eyes match those of its mane- white, light blue, or yellow. Males have larger ears and two sharp spines on each shoulder.
Description- Your Umbramancer that was once small enough to sit in your palm is now up to your shoulder! He/She now spends all day asleep, only emerging during the night to explore the woods and lakeside. He/She is a fierce predator, and skilled at shadow manipulation. You're glad it's on your side, as it would make a deadly enemy.
Typhonic Beast
Description- There is a legend amoungst the desert-wandering nomads of a fierce creature that uses the sands themselves as its weapon. Long thought to be a allegory for the beastial fury behind the sudden sandstorms that plague the area, magi have recently discovered that it was in fact real.
The Typhonic Beast, as it was named, is not much bigger than a domestic dog, but is easily fiercer than any dragon. Even when raised by experianced magi, they are hot-headed creatures with extremely short fuses- callous, vindictive, disobedient, and always spoiling for a fight. It will purposely seek out foes weaker than itself, just to practice its sand attacks and sate its constant bloodlust.
Egg- The eggs of a Typhonic Beast is sandy brown, with two red, square-tipped ears poking out.
Description- This egg has two red-furred ears poking out of the shell, and feels like hot sand.
Hatchling- The hatchling resembles a puppy with rusty red fur and a long tail, which is forked at the end. Its ears are overlarge and almost rectangular. The snout of the hatchling is long, as are its legs. Its eyes are large, red, and rimmed with black.
Description- The eggs hatched suddenly one day, showering eggshell everywhere, and a small red creature strutted out of the ruins. It is small but fierce, attacking your hand when you reached out to pet its coarse fur. As it grows up, it is getting you in more and more trouble- not only is it lazy and disobidient, but it insists on attacking any other creature on the smallest provocation. It'll be a real handful when it grows up.
Adult- An adult Typhonic Beast is the same rusty red as the hatchling, but its ears are much bigger and the snout in long and curves downwards. It has a stocky body which contrasts with its long legs and thin forked tail. The fur sticks up in all directions, and is peppered with scars. The eyes are almond shaped and red, with a thick band of black surrounding them. Its neck is long and resembles a snake's.
Description- The adult Typhonic Beast is the most agressive creature you have ever met, and probably the most disagreeable. It constantly picks fights with the other creatures at the Keep, and often comes close to killing them. Even worse, it seems to enjoy bloodshed and is unrepentant when you reprimand it. On quests, it has put you in danger more times than it has saved you by attacking wild beasts much larger than itself. In spite of the size difference, its sand powers mean it can defeat opponents up to the size of a manticore.
Mating (negotiable)- Umbramancers will mate with Direwolves and Void Dragons with a 50% chance it will be an Umbramancer. UmbramancerxUmbramancer will ALWAYS produce Umbramancers. Typhonic Beasts will mate with Kitsunes and Direwolves or another Typhonic Beast to produce more Typhonic Beasts.
