Though I know plenty of people are using Flashblock with no problems, I'm completely against recommending it when there's a simpler option. With Chrome, not only did it not do anything, it was incredibly difficult to figure out how to work, and it made the browser soft-freeze rather often. I don't have a great PC, but it's still good enough to play basic games, so such a simple (in theory) add on shouldn't have been causing those sort of problems unless something was wrong with it.

Anyway, for those who have the same issue with it or just don't want Flashblock, here's how to turn Flash off in a few browsers:

Chrome:

Code: Select all

http://osxdaily.com/2011/05/24/turn-off-flash-chrome/

Open a new tab

Type "about:plugins" in the bar and hit enter

This will take you to chrome://plugins/ (you can also just type "chrome://plugins/" instead)

Find Flash on the list and click Disable; the action is instant and does not require a browser restart

When finished doing whatever requires Flash to be disabled, go back to the chrome://plugins/ page and Enable it
Firefox:

Code: Select all

http://www.ehow.com/how_8171267_turn-flash-off-firefox.html

Open the "Tools" menu in Firefox and click "Add-ons." If you don't see the "Tools" menu, click the "Firefox" button instead and then click "Add-ons."

Click the "Plugins" tab on the "Add-ons" window

Find and click the entry for Flash

Click the "Disable" button

Restart the browser
Safari:
Everything ends up pointing me towards ClickToFlash.

Meh... right now my easiest solution seems to be just skipping all the MyMiniCity links. I use No Script so FlashBlock is out, other Flash blockers seem to require activation after the page is already loaded (wth?), and at any given time I've got 20-30 tabs open in FireFox, which I do not want to continually reload every time I want to turn Flash off for Yarolds then on again for everything else I do.

Also not particularly thrilled that dynasty leaders from there would come here and, as near as I can tell, make accounts just so they can post how much one of our people - who's trying to make this easier for us - is screwing us up by being helpful. Publicly, on our forum. It does not give me great confidence about how helpful they may be otherwise.

And let's not forget the credit-conserving ability to hide links, which is apparently USELESS because the links still show on the history exchange. I hope that removing the link entirely at least takes it off the history exchange as well; the faqs don't say either way.

Not even sure if this was any more helpful than posting my eggs in the IFN. But quite honestly, I would've quietly put up with the city-link-dodging, the hiding-that-does-not-conserve-credits, and even the rampant bad spelling/grammar in the FAQs (and I am a monstrous grammar-nazi most of the time), if not one but TWO leads from there hadn't felt the need to come here and publicly dress-down the person from here leading the charge to join their site.

Between your option and mine, people can choose which one they prefer. I personally prefer to use a flashblock which i can tell to let flash on selective sites load ( like youtube) For others just turning it off like you suggested might work better.

Removing the links also removes them from history, yes. The Only other solution is to become a vip on Yarolds, either by clicking a lot of links (i cant remember the number right now, but it is a lot of clicking.. ) or by buying credits, which gives you the option to turn off history.

For some people Yarolds might not Be the best way to hatch their eggs. If there is one thing i have learned in years of playing Dragcave, then its that the same method of hatching eggs does not work for everyone. Yarolds works fine for me, but that does not mean it works for everyone.

I am not a wizz with tech but I have run both no script and flashblock simultaneously in FF without problems, I dont have both any longer, only flashblock and I have no problems with minicity links.
Only members with VIP status can completely turn off links, the amount of clicks needed to obtain VIP status grows every day, currently in the neighborhood of 345k clicks. Deleting the links means there are no links so yes you still have credits when you come back online but you wont have received any clicks.

I made my account March 27th (it would have been days earlier but I couldn't get started as I never got the activation mail), that was before the new dynasty was made. My account was made, as most of all my other game accounts, to get to know the game so I can advice my members who play this game, how to best use Yarolds. I do pick eggs and evolve them I am currently showing 12 MS links in Yarolds and replacing the adults daily ^.^
I posted because I was frustrated seeing how many new members joined and were left hanging not being accepted. After 4 yrs in Yarolds I have seen many new members give up and quit Yarolds because no one gave them any help and tips from start. I tried to contact the new Emperor in Yarolds offering help getting started but never got reply.

I did not intent to dress down anyone I was as I said frustrated seeing all those members not getting the help needed to get a good start. The dynasty I am in is full (Max members limit reached) so I have no other purpose than to give help.

As for the grammer in FAQ's or Forum ... not all are born in an English speaking country (I am Danish) not all had access to high level education, not all are grown ups

To make it clear it's great to see new dynasties being made (I am atm helping one of my former members start her own dynasty) and we love all you guys coming to Yarolds and regardless what dynasty you choose to join I will still say drop into chat and ask for help or tips.

If my post came across offensive I am very sorry and I hope those offended will forgive me for posting while having a bad moment of frustrations.

I have found that killing flash in opera (what I use to click all those links at once cause unlike FF or Chrome it wont crash on me when I open more than 50 tabs at once - plus I know I can have over 200 tabs open in it at one time)

All i did was
Tools -> preferences -> Advanced -> Content -> Enable Animated images I unticked that box.
Now flash doesnt load in Opera, and I can click to my hearts content

I also recommend to new users to go through each tab and close individually where possible as some links require you to click something on that page. Unicreatures is one of them, mobsters i think its called is another and eggcave
so be kind and click ;)

Also: If you for whatever reason can not go trough each tab ( browser, time, etc..) then you can turn the action links off ( those are the links that require a extra click, like unicreatures, etc. )

here is how to do that: Go to your profile --> tab Account --> Scroll down to all links and hat, set that option to no --> click update. now allthe links you see only need to be clicked and loaded before you can close them.

( i do this sometimes myself, due to not having much time to click on some days. )

What is CARE?
The percentage of which you complete Human Awareness Tests.

HAT= Human Awareness Tests. It's basically a link that randomly pops up in a tab where you have to type in anything in the given field and just continue on. If you miss an HAT, then your CARE percentage goes down, and you can't see all of the available links for clicking. If you get the test and complete it in enough time, your CARE percentage goes up, and the higher it is, the more links you can click to get your daily min. average up.

I hope that helps. I can't find the forum thread anywhere x.x

So, if I automatically close all links without looking at them, I am missing some sort of pop-up? That is kind of annoying. I have never seen one, as far as I know.

Links to the CARE/HAT guide in various languages here.

Basically for some sites, just viewing the page doesn't do anything. GPX+ is like that, you have to actually feed the pokemon a berry, or warm an egg, by clicking on the appropriate item on the page. So if you're just closing all the tabs without looking, you're burning through that person's credits without actually helping them. The HATs are used to see who's paying attention, and the more of them you do, the better your CARE score.

If you only want sites that require views, not interactions, go to your Profile --> Account --> "All links & HAT" and set it to "no." You won't ever get a CARE score, but you also will only get links that don't require additional interaction, like MagiStream. As near as I can tell, the only use for the CARE score is to get high clicking averages in the Dynasty. As I'm not competitive and don't really care how many people outscore me, I've turned it off.

Decided to start a new dynasty on Yarold's if anyone's interested. :D

The Rambling Magis Dynasty

Also, could use someone with better banner making skills than I to make a banner for it. I've made a basic one for my sig, but that's about the best I can do. XD
