Honestly, attempting to influence the game as a whole for your own ideals, IS wrong. It's basically what Wolf was accusing me of in my lineage thread, when my point was for each individual person to be able to do as they pleased.

Still, it is her thread, her shop, and she's asking for a bunch of prices to make a median of current trends to sell hers at. If someone decides to go to her next time there's a release because they know she'll be cheaper, so what? People did that with pixiqueen and imperialism because they were known for selling them dirt cheap and that was their business. Imp sold hers for 10k say, and Other User for 30k. It's not Imp's fault no one wants to go to Other User for their stuff.

I just think that you guys are asking GamingGal to do what you want to do, which is what you're kind of saying she's trying to do. She has no right to go around saying that "everyone else is more expensive, come to me" and if she does, rap her knuckles with your mod ruler... but I still don't think you really ought to come in here and accuse her of being unfair herself or saying she's saying you're unfair when she hasn't.

Also, note, that a lot of people go to whomever they like to buy their stuff, all but disregarding how expensive it is, because they like that person. Some shops have been what I feel are high, and did a lot of business because they were popular and well-liked users, while newbs or unpopular people, even if they were selling for less, didn't.

EDIT: Case-in-point, my silly-named creatures. I have sold koi, kraken, and winged cats so far at 100g apiece, already named and nonreturnable. While a lot of people sell koi for 20g. I still sold out. I don't think GamingGal is going to ruin much for those like certain users who are known for selling high on the curve.

I think that it's starting to get a bit into the realm of "Graah such and so vs so and such" now with the arguing, but the general idea of this, as far as I can tell, is to find what's considered a fair median price for each creature. The problem with this though is that even with the old coalition it wasn't really the coalition that set the prices, it was just the people who bought and sold donis.

Back when the prices were "fair and stable" the same five or six people funneled a few hundred dollars into the system EVERY month and ALWAYS used the same prices. They're all either gone or can't afford to do this anymore. That's the biggest reason for the "constant" prices having disappeared, and it's why we have the fluid prices. Realistically the higher prices every month are fair because the people buying them aren't the ones who had all those funds to pour into the system, and that's just the way they value the shards they're paying for.

As for the stream pets/QBs and such, they've had roughly the same prices since we got them. When Rose Imps came out people complained at spending 200k per Imp, but when Hellhounds came out people bought them for the exact same price.

I guess it really is just an opinion thing no matter who's selling or buying or even reading this thread, but I just feel that my above statements are a good view on it.

As for the old coalition, I've heard it caved due to price arguments within the Coalition itself. This will not happen here, hopefully. We will come to a consensus on the final price list and use it and only it.

Please explain how attempting to influence market prices over the entire site is not exactly this. If GamingGal wants to open a shop where she prices things dirt cheap, then she can go for it. If users want to go to her because of her dirt-cheap prices, I am happy that they'll be happy. However, you want to influence what other players price their creatures at; you've outright stated that. And I don't see a difference between that and what you stated above.

As for a price list, I don't have one. I price according to current market values or I throw things at people for free depending on my mood.

Because, we aren't trying to enforce these prices throughout the Merchant District, or anywhere else for that matter. We will be enforcing them in our shop (as do all other shops who have set prices) and hoping that the prices will someday leak into the MD due to the constant flow of fair prices on creatures

We will not be saying only the Coalition price list is fair. We will also mention other kind shops that we feel set fair prices. We might mention specific members as well, who others can always turn to for a good sale.

The sellers at the Coalition are giving me their price lists as well, and they will be taken into consideration as well. The same here. I'm hoping to get many sellers views of what is a good price, then find a happy median which isn't too high and isn't too low.

Not sure what else to say, as I'm starting to repeat myself. Actually, I started that a few posts ago. So, since I'm not sure what else to say besides constantly say what I've already said, I'm turning in for the night. Hopefully I won't miss too much while I'm asleep. Actually, Gaming, you shouldn't try to influence the market. It's not your business to do it. I thought you were just asking for a price consensus to sell your own at, and I was defending that right. If what you're doing is saying, "hey, 20 people said 3mil for a Old Gold Crystalwing is too much, they're right, so we're going to try and sell it for cheaper, come to us!" then I agree with Sochi and Shai. Trying to lure customers from one business to another is not right.

EDIT: But saying "I sell for cheaper" is just advertising.

I think it's greedy to try and sell an Old Gold Crystalwing to those who joined after June, 2009 or whatever for 3mil and say, "too bad, you weren't here, so sad" but that's still their right to do it. If no one wants to buy for 3mil, then that user will see that and either lower the price or keep it.

If all you're doing is making a shop where people can go to you for cheaper-than-average, then there's nothing wrong with that. You're Wal-Mart to Other User's Bloomingdale's. Nothing wrong with either.

No, I don't think I've out-right stated that. If you can find a quote from me saying, "Yeah, I totally want to influence the market" then I'll apologize, but I'm not a part of the Coalition at all; I filled out a freaking form saying I thought 3mil for an Old Gold Crystalwing was too much and I think it is, and that I'd be happy if someone else for sell it for cheaper, but I didn't say [User] is selling too high, go make them lower it!

Fairness is subjective, though. If Gaming says she thinks 3mil is unfair, and 1mil is, she can do so. What she can't do is go to someone and tell them she sells too high, and she's not, hopefully.

Sellers are more than welcome to come in here, too. I don't see anywhere that Gaming said they're not. I'm a seller, when I can be, and I put in my input. So did SickSoul. You two haven't yet, though, so you're not really helping your point saying she's not asking for sellers' opinions if you don't offer yours.

I think the current prices are unfair. So? Ignore me if you don't agree and sell it for 3mil, no one's stopping you.

No, I don't think she should be able to influence the market. While I would be happy that we had a market that didn't charge 3mil for a Donation Pet 9 people were here to get, I accept the fact that capitalism and freedom exist on this site and they can do that.

But I still say she is also free to advertise her shop as cheaper. A lot of people do that. It's competition. Her prices are fair because she's free to set them where she sees fit. And I'll stand behind her, as long as she doesn't go around telling Yui she can't sell a Vanil Shaa for 100k or GrowlingCupcake a QB Rose Imp for 400k.
