Actually no, the hydras aren't. xD
Tristan really had no part in the hydra's planning, the artists who took part planned all that. He almost didn't know about them till Glass sent him a text to release them. The hydras were not part of the anniversary but a special release for #500.

The number 5 kept coming up--5 active artists taking part in it, #500 creature near the 5th Magianniversary in the 5th month of the year, thus came the idea of continuing 5's with 5 headed hydras with 5 different elements.

I love the whole 5 play. XD So this means we're getting another creature or two for the Magiversary? :O

I can't say what creatures are in the works/being planned nor how many there will be, but I can say that there are a couple ideas or so for the possibility for an event for the anniversary, big or not, I can't say cause not even I know that much, still in the works last I heard.

I can't believe I've been coming to this site for that long--and keep coming back even after huge lengths of time away. Looking forward to whatever is planned!
