First of all, I think you're very brave for talking about it and getting help! I know how hard that is, you feel ashamed, weak and generally a bad person for having to get help.
I can't say much about your disorder, but I can tell you that with good psychiatric help, live gets better and easier.
I personally have Borderline Disorder, and it took me years to finally have the courage to get help. And once I did, a world opened up for me.
I believe that both mine and your disorder (both born from trauma) is not something you medicate away (though I do have some to manage the mood swings). It's more about accepting.
I believe that every person in your mind, is a part of yourself, together they make up who you are. I hope that with the help of a psychiatrist you can find a way to live happily with who YOU are.
