Gonna make a couple of changes, you made some good points but one thing:

I meant 'warmth of memory' because they have lost the comfort that memory brings. They forgot the Keep (home of the magi in this world, silly

) and thus (i love that word) were unable to draw comfort from the past, they went on with no respite from their suffering.
