Tributaries question

So I'm a returning player from a million years ago and I was just wondering if it was normal for the tributaries to be pretty static? I feel like every time I visit them the overall egg spawn isn't really any different, I wouldn't mind so much, but it's making trying to finish the artificer quest pretty difficult without any thunderbird eggs spawning.

The tributaries refresh only once an hour so you'll have to stream clean a bit if you don't want to wait that long.
