i quite like (and bear in mind, these aren't long games by any means,)

Speed Dating for Ghosts
Year Walk
Gris
The Deer God

i also second the Room series, they have very simple room escape games but also released three longer games that i believe(?) are part of a series.

Here's my suggestions, I'll try to avoid well-known indie games like Undertale, Shovel Knight, et cetera.

Paratopic
A short horror game. Please note that you can't save in it.

Anodyne
A Zelda-like game, on the surreal side. There's a sequel to it, but I haven't played it yet.

Fuzzy Road Home
Another short game. There's no real challenge, but it's really cute and makes me happy.

an artist that I follow on Instagram recently released a short game demo! I haven’t yet played it, but the art and the previews look fantastic, plus the people who have played it through have said it’s adorable :)

if youre into horror games, i highly recommend anatomy by kitty horrorshow. its a game about a haunted house and undoubtedly the scariest game youre ever going to play. thats high praise, but its well deserved. kitty horrorshows other works are very very good too, although most are short or unfinished.

Old RPG maker horror games like IB, Mad Father, etc etc are really good. They aren't super graphic despite being horror related, moreso like scary childhood stories most of the time (except Misao which I warn against due to mature topics) and can run on older computers! Might need to install RTPs but VGperson (I think that's the name) includes links to those on their profile

Maybe not the brand you're going for, but I loved playing good old Spore.
It's an evolution game where you just, make a little dude and go through it's full evolutionary timeline allllll the way up to space travel. I'm pretty sure you'd have to pirate it? But fun, nonetheless.

Valley, (2018, blue isle studio's)
Is a fun game where you shoot lifeforce to bring life back to a valley. Some platforming, some 'shooting', there is some reading of notes, but there are also audio logs. And racing down the hills is just great fun.

Submerged (2015, Uppercut Games Pty Ltd)
There is no combat or spoken lines. You travel through a submerged city covered in moss to save your younger sibling. Lovely visuals, a library of moss animal creatures to discover and the story of how you two came to this city. Minor spoiler if you want to avoid games that mention harm.
Spoiler
The drunk dad threw a harpoon that critically injured the younger brother.
Tengami (2015, Nyamyam)
Very very different, you play as a samurai in a pop-up book. More of a walking simulator with a nice audio track and mild puzzles.

The wild eternal (2017, Ilsanjo)
You play as an older woman with an unfortunate life. Due to her religion she will reincarnate after death, but she doesn't want to. In the game you explore a wilderness covered in fog on your quest to step out of the reincarnation cycle. There is no combat, lots of exploring and a few puzzles I think. It has been a long time since I played.

Waking mars (2012, Tiger Style)
A 2D game. You are a scientist on Mars. During an accident you get trapped deep beneath the surface where you learn Mars was not always the desert planet it is now. Bit of platforming as you learn how to use these alien plants to find your way out and in the end, decide the fate of the planet.

Unheard (2019, NEXT Studios) Not sure if this company is an indy.
A very different game play. You have in front of you a map of the crime scene with dots representing the individuals who where there. All you have to find out which crime was committed when and by who is by listening to the people as they move through the map.

Turing test (2016, BULKHEAD) Not sure if this company is an indy.
You awaken to have your crew still on the planet. Trying to find them you have to explore through puzzle rooms designed to keep the AI overseeing the project out. Just puzzles, lots and lots of puzzles, but it has spoken voicelines.

A tiny sticker tale (2023, Ogre Pixel) bit young, but it is an indy)
The game is a sticker book. You need to travel the path your father once did and to get there you need to travel around, take object with you in your sticker book and put them where you need them.

Tacoma (2017, Fullbright)
You are send to a space station to retrieve the AI after an accident occurred. Discover what happened on the space station.

Styx master of darkness (2014) and Styx shards of darkness (2017, Cyanide Studio)
You play as Styx, a goblin. Both games are fully voiced and heavily relies on stealth. The first has everything more set up as separate missions where you can earn medallions you use to upgrade your skills. The second follows the same idea of the first and just moves to a new region.

Moons of darkness (2019, Rock Pocket Games)
Cosmic horror. Exploration has gone wrong and the rest of your crew is gone. Travelling through desolate bases and your past. Running from monsters and deciding on the fate of the world.

Just a few, fun games.
Low prices high quality.
