I'm going to get my name changed soon. I was excited for it up until she told me that I would have to go into court and address a judge.
I had a nervous stall-out the other day because a cashier made eye contact with me for half a second. How the hell am I going to hold a full conversation with a judge?
I can't stop thinking about it more and more and the more I think about it the more it terrifies me. I've never even been in a courtroom before. I don't know if the judge is going to be tolerant. I don't know if I need a lawyer. And I cannot take in shit for information right now and every wordset I look up that isn't straightforward enough to get past that just freaks me out more. I don't think I could even muster up the gall to bring up gender markers. Thank the gods I don't live in Texas, but I have to wonder if I'm not still too close to their border for this to have any hope of going well. Why the hell can't this just be a paperwork process? Paperwork is boring as all hell but atleast then I don't have to try to sound like a normal person. I can't fucking talk. I can't fucking look at people. Unfortunately people who can communicate with others tend to be offended by that. This is not going to end well.

It was only once, and I doubt it's a clean switch, but it's definitely a step in the right direction - and I'm so happy for him.
