I would totally participate. I love writing so much I sometimes procrastinate continuing to write one long story by beginning another.
sometimes it creates a vicious cycle that never ends. Short story and poetry contests are great to help prevent from leaving unfinished works

Ooh, I LOVE this idea! I'm writing a LOT of books currently, but at a certain point I always get writer's block. I think this would be perfect to get people going, including me!

While I may not the most poetic,
About this, I'm certainly not apathetic.
A test to measure literary skill,
I believe, would closely fit the bill.

Those who feel they are just beginning
Could learn a bit, even if they aren't winning.
After all, the contests should just be for fun!
That way, we don't offend anyone.
