I know :/ I've been playing for 7 months and I tend to avoid certain forums unless absolutely needed.

eesh, even when searching for art people are rude because you don't want to pay out the booty for a piece of art that isn't honestly worth 1million in treasure ^^;

I just do my own little thing in my corner. The community seems like a special ring of hell i'd rather not enter.

problem is I'm active in the forums because I like my G1 dragons and accents. that's got me friends, but also enemies, and now I'm all over AR because some people think I treat others like a doormat and I'm getting ripped for selling a copy of a custom accent. this dragon game is so not worth it v___v (she says and returns to play again every time)

IDK, man, I have my full body commissions priced at 2000 gems/ ~1.4 million t and busts at 1000 gems/700k t, because, tbh, I'd rather work on my own things over underpriced commissions. As in, if people don't buy my art at that price, I'm not gonna cry, I can use that time to work on my own projects instead.
Art is a commodity everybody wants to get, but noone wants to pay for it for some reason. IDK, would you tell someone doing something else that their one-of-a-kind services are too expensive? Think about it. And yes, I have in the past shelled out ~$80 for a digital speedpainting. Not even a fully refined piece, but a speedpainting from one of my favourite dA artists. /points to her avatar art
Generally, a rule of thumb would be - don't complain about commission prices. If you don't want to pay for something the person spent years on learning, then just don't buy.
Because, frankly, in my experience, a lot of people who are looking to buy art are way more rude than artists.

Like, when I'll decide to quit FR, I intend to sell off all my valuable items and use the profits to buy art, and I intend to pay fairly for it.
