#Creature 1161 - Synaran Baku

While the wild baku possess the body of a horse, the mane, tail and paws of a lion, and the face and trunk of an elephant, selective breeding and taming has made the Synaran baku slightly different. Much smaller and more playful than their desert dwelling cousins, the Synaran bakus have also lost some of the abilities the wild counterparts still possess. The Synaran baku are strictly pets and they love to curl up next to their favourite human. There were times when these creatures were also used for entertainment with circling entertainers having them jump through hoops and perform for the masses. The Synaran bakus can teleport short distances so the audiences were always awed by the vanishing act. These shows were later on prohibited and the Synaran bakus have enjoyed their life of pampering ever since.

While on occasion rather shaky on its long legs, this small creature loves to jumpingly follow you around. It uses its small trunk to explore and taste everything it can reach. Baku hatchlings eat vegetables mainly, but sweet fruits are always a welcome treat, and the Synaran bakus especially love the spicy honey produced in the city. This little one is quite adamant when it wants something to eat, tugging at your robe with its trunk and showcasing all the tricks it has learned that have garnered it sweets in the past. Although generally sweet natured and calm, it already knows to use its sharp tusks when irked, and you have to be sure it doesn't harm its playmates. Sometimes when you look at it it seems to you that the little creature is suddenly not there, yet back in the blink of an eye.

A Synaran baku remains playful long into adulthood. They are ever so curious and love to explore their surroundings. It is important for magi to come up with enrichment ideas for these small companions to keep their minds busy and happy. An adult Synaran baku also enjoys the comfortable life - they love soft pillows for resting and should one not be available they are content on curling up in a magi's lap as well.

I'm definitely not a fan of the stream Baku. I'm curious to see what these will look like though. :/
... The more I look at the adults, the more in love with them I fall.
