Kelungs are fascinating creatures. They are said to represent certain aspects of the magi's character that they grow up with, and take an appearance after that. It is not uncommon to find magi inclined in a certain way surrounded by similar kelungs. Kelungs have traditionally been given as gifts among the royalty with the belief that a certain kelung will bring forth different kinds of fortunes and good luck in one's life for a year to come. Today it is believed that kelungs actually enhance people's belief in themselves and help them cultivate their dreams and make good decisions in trying to reach them.

Kelung hatchlings are lively, fast and curious. Nothing escapes their swift and inquiring nature as they skitter around from the moment they hatch. Tending a young kelung is no easy task even for an accomplished magi as keeping up with them requires as much paying attention as it does luck, or the young creature manages to slip away to explore and may forget to come back.

Once kelungs mature they calm down noticeably compared to their younger years. Their curiosity remains, however, and in occasion they venture in the most extraordinary places just to see what lies there, their long bodies and sensitive whiskers visibly twitching from the excitement of discovering something new.

And this is to "encourage" trading...

Why the extra step when you can do just by adding the alts to all with shops at the price and then they'd actually be different creatures instead of alts. I'm guessing someone is really itching to get to number 1160. Pushing fudge to hurry creature numbers.

It wasn't based on making the creature numbers increase on the site, it was to bring the concept of the Lung's iconic 'soul pearl' into function--a useable item more so than just a prop in the image. It was also to introduce more items into the shops than just creatures--a stepping stone for possible future items to also be added into the shops than just the same 'add different alt to each shop'. We wanted to also have the shops branch out into items as well that may or may not also be used on future and past creatures.

Least this is my take and understanding of this function and could possibly be further reasons for this path than what I've just stated. I'd like the idea if it'd even be possible to just trade items...like trading one shop pearl for another, or trading a cookie for creature candy, an idea that could be shared and see if it's even doable, but till then, this is the best we can do in item trading. <'3
