i really don't know what to say other than i'm terrified for our democracy. i'm scared of what might happen if trump declares victory before all of the absentee ballots are counted, scared for what he might do about the next supreme court nomination, and really scared about where this country is headed. i just don't know what else i can think about and i almost feel guilty having any personal uncertainty about my life and career and personhood because there's so much more on the line. i just feel helpless.

So am I, I feel all of this. Calling my representative and senator on Monday, voting as soon as the ballot arrives (and thanking the gods I live in a state that's had universal mail-in ballots long before Covid reared its ugly head), and otherwise doing my part to help people, be kind, and be prepared while not collapsing full-on into enviro-doomer/prepper paranoia.

I feel y'all. I'm just so worried about everything going on. I got my ballot today (I'm overseas) and because Texas is stupid, I can ONLY mail it back to the US. Most other states allow fax or email return ballots, but not Texas! I'm so worried it's going to get lost because I have to take it to the US Embassy and then they fly it to California with their mail before handing it off to USPS - which is incredibly unreliable as it is.

i definitely am going to do everything i can too. admitting to myself that it's okay to be overwhelmed and to not do everything that i could be doing, every moment of the day, when i have other things going on... that's a decent part of the battle, though. i'm working on it.
