It seems they changed how getting verified works and tl;dr if you don't have enough news related stuff about you/aren't super popular and active you won't get verified/will end up losing your verification.

Okay so they just shaft smaller creators in favor of getting more kid friendly shit considering they can make the now seeming automated verification process follow whatever parameters they see fit. That sounds like a great way to cut off certain content from getting attention, which I'm pretty sure YouTube were already trying to do with them trying to be kid friendly. *facepalms*

Companies like YouTube/Google aren't interested in 'people', only cold hard cash. Sure it's a 'free' site, but that's only because of all the ad revenue.

My impression is that the change is in response to a tightening in laws regarding content aimed at children. So in this particular case it's not so much specifically greed as trying to cover their butts. But like, in a really half-assed way. Haha, butts, half-assed, get it?

YouTube is just going downhill I think, I'm not even a content creator I just use it to watch stuff.
