[[ Well this seems to be a trend for us... Very delayed replies, that is. Again, sorry for the long wait. School is crazy. ]]

"Kida!" Aaron raised his arms to shield himself from the spray of water that ensued. The dog, however, seemed to take no notice and simply carried on with Lilia. Even though the dog's actions had left him just the slightest bit annoyed, Aaron couldn't help but chuckle as he watched the other two play. He felt happy, to the point of it feeling odd for him. He couldn't recall feeling this good before, but then again, he also couldn't recall ever having done something like this before either. Part of him wished he had done it sooner, but the other part of him was glad it was now because if it had been sooner, it might not have been with Lilia.

Watching Lilia finally get out reminded him of his earlier intentions of getting out as well. Kida had foiled that plan at first, but now that she was in the pool, there was nothing to stop him from getting out. Once both of them were out, the dog was the only one left, though she didn't seem to mind too much. She was soon occupied with watching the small shiny fish that swam around just below the surface.

Ah... Now that he was standing on dry ground in soaking wet clothes, Aaron suddenly just then found himself with the thought of taking his shirt of so that he would have at least had one dry piece of clothing. Too late now, he thought with a slight sigh as he went to work wringing himself out. Even if he had thought of it then, he probably wouldn't have gone through with the plan. He gave a brief glance toward Lilia before momentarily slipping behind some thicker branches to slip of his shirt so he could wring it out better. She seemed pretty busy with drying herself off, so maybe she wouldn't notice. Other guys probably wouldn't be so shy taking off their shirts in front of a nice girl, but Aaron wasn't 'other guys.'

When there was no more to do with drying himself off, he slipped his shirt back on and reemerged. Instead of dripping like before, he was only damp now, with the exception of his hair. That was still pretty wet, but there wasn't much to do about it. Besides, it would dry pretty quickly on its own. Hoping she hadn't noticed, he took a seat next to her on the grass.

"You're welcome," he said with a smile after she thanked him. "I'm glad you liked it." His eyes followed where she was looking, and he soon found himself admiring the sky's beauty as well. At her suggestion to head back, he realized that the sunset meant it was starting to get late. "Oh, oh yeah." He cleared his throat and stood up, offering her a hand to help. "That might not be a bad idea, seeing as we're both wet and it gets chilly at night." Just then, Kida jumped out of the pool. After going forward a few steps, just within range of the two teens, she lowered her head and gave herself a good shake, sending droplets of water everywhere. Then, looking pleased with herself once more, she took to trotting in circles around the two as though sensing something was going on.

***

Upon hearing Ciel's apology, the young scientist was pretty quick to take on his meaning. "Oh." Giving a slight smile, she replied lightly, "Yeah, I kind of figured. Don't worry about it. We're both still in one piece." Even though the incident had left her very much freaked out, and she was admittedly just a little on edge being here, she didn't want to make her friend feel bad, so she did what she could to sort of play it off as something that could maybe be laughed over a little later.

Though she raised her eyebrow and gave him a certain look at his refusal of her offer to help, she simply shook her head a little with an amused smile and didn't say anything. She had known him long enough by now to know how stubborn he could be about these things. Not to mention, she had eaten over enough times that this was part of the routine that had evolved from these get-togethers.

A ding sounded from the kitchen, and Ciel disappeared shortly after to go and take care of what she assumed was going to be dinner. While he was busy, Keira sat down on the couch and pulled out her phone to check the time real quick. She felt bad about thinking of rushing things with Ciel a little bit, but at the same time, with Max having just come back from his business trip a couple days ago, it had been a little while the two of them had some quality time together. The sound of Ciel's returning footsteps and the smell of what had to be the food he had made brought her out of her thoughts, and she slipped her phone back into the pocket of her jacket.

Keira walked into the dining room and sat down at the table just as the food was set down. She scanned the plate over with her eyes while he got silverware, and then said with a smile, "It looks and smells good, but a here's hint for next time: Don't start apologizing for the food until after the guest has eaten it." Once he sat down, she picked up a fork and took her first bite. So far, so good. After swallowing, she nodded and told him, "Very good! Like I said, don't apologize for your food before your guest has eaten it. It tends to say your confidence isn't that high, but I will say that it should be higher. This is quite nice!"

So far, dinner seemed to be going well, which was good except for one thing: She wasn't sure how to bring up the idea of leaving a little earlier than usual.

[[Yep but i like how it lasts.. This roleplay is already 3 years old. :woo: Tho i gone all rusty because I haven't roleplay for a while. And no worries, school is more important anyway.. And i realised you are learning Chinese? Also, we are rival team for the pumpkin wars :t-pirate: ]]

Lilia looked at Aaron, concentrating on his mouth movement so that she wouldn't miss any word he said. While she was busy staring, she was in a some sort of a light trance, mesmerized with his lips. She felt a sudden unexplained feeling seep into her, a feeling that she never have the chance to experience. She felt fear and worries but at the same time, somehow glad. She snapped back into attention when Aaron got up, offering a hand to help her up. Her cheeks feel warmth all of the sudden as she reached out to take his hand. For once, she was glad of the dark, for this would mask her blushes. "Thank you" She coughed, hoisting herself onto her feet with the help from Aaron. She released his hand immediately after she got up.

Her eyes trailed to Kida who just got out from the water, shaking herself dry before trotting over to them. She reached out and patted her on the head. "I see you are really enjoying this..."

"Best to get going before both of us catch some cold". Lilia chuckled, reaching out to lightly flick his damp hair. 'Lead the way back, please' She said, waiting for Aaron since she had no clue of the way and had forgotten the direction that they came earlier. Even though she had good sense of direction, it was still hard for her to remember a new way with just one visit.

In a distance, the howls of a few forest wolves can be heard, breaking the silence of the night. Some of them sounded really hungry so it would be time for them to hunt in the covers of the night.

((Thought this might help them trigger their change if they do cross path..XD))
***

'Well thanks for the tips. I will try it next time.' He chuckled, taking a seat on the opposite side of the table. Holding cutlery, he looked at Keira. "Well, Bon Appétit" He said, trying to sound more French although it was already wrong in this chose of meal as he couldn't remember the words in Italian. Ciel smiled as he watched her take the first bite, her reaction was kind of priceless. 'Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot to an unskilled chef.' He said before finally taking his first bite. Well, if he had to say so himself, it tasted good.

While they were eating, Ciel noticed that Keira was kind of rushing through her dinner by eating at a rather unusual fast pace. Either she was hungry...or - he didn't want to think the latter- she had to meet someone after this. He sighed, considering that they always has dinner this later...it might be the latter. Ciel finished his meal moments later after Keira finished hers. "I didn't know you were that hungry.. Gobbling down those food like a pack of hungry wolves." He joked. Ciel could somehow feel that Keira wanted to leave as soon as possible.. just not she didnt know how to tell him.

Ciel felt uneasy, a knot tightened in his stomach. His throat felt coarse all of the sudden. He stretched and pretended to yawn. "All those tests in the morning had left me feeling exhausted. I think I want to retreat early for the night instead of the usual catching up." He voiced out. He looked at Keira and reluctantly said, "Would you mind leaving early to let me rest? Just leave the dishes in the sink and i will do that later"

[[ Three years?? That's awesome. I never had one last this long... ^_^ I'm a little rusty too, so don't worry. I've just gotten back into it to try and hype myself up to write all the papers I've been bogged down with.

Haha you are observant. Yes, I have been. Ah, we are on opposing teams! Lobbing digital pumpkins at you is so much fun. XD ]]

After wiping off the fresh droplets of water that had been sprayed all over him by the German Shepherd, he turned and looked toward his companion who was now on her feet. As he watched her pet the dog, Aaron couldn't help but think that Kida had a pretty good judge of character. The two might not have met if it hadn't been for her, now that he thought back to everything. It hadn't been that long since he had gotten to know Lilia, yet he was very glad to have met her and consider her a friend.

The young man's heart skipped a beat as she reached out to flick his hair. Physical contact wasn't something he was used to very much due to the rather solitary existence he had led before, but he told himself that the strange feeling would subside as he got more used to it. Not, of course, that he was expecting a lot more physical contact in the future... Aaron shook his head slightly to refocus himself on what he was supposed to be doing: leading them back home.

Ignoring the small headache that started to come again, he smiled gently at Lilia and said in a chivalrous tone, "As you wish, m'lady." Then he turned and started to walk back. Having been there enough times before by now, he didn't need any light to see his way home.

Wolves' howls in the distance as they walked made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up, and he began to feel a little agitated just listening to them. Kida's ears perked up as well in response, but she stuck close and didn't make a sound. She seemed to be too busy looking around for anything that might be closer to her human companions than she'd prefer. Aarons nerves only increased as the howls continued, but he convinced himself that it was just the new experience of being out with someone else other than just Kida and that he just wanted to make sure nothing happened to either of them.

***

The food was amazing, much to Keira's disappointment. It only made it harder for her to give an excuse to go, so while she didn't want to make it seem obvious, she ate at a slightly faster pace. The sooner dinner finished, the sooner she would be able to go; yet, it wasn't really like she wanted to go either. These dinners with Ciel had become special to them, a sort of tradition for just the two of them. It was where they were able to see each other most often outside of work, and after Max, he was probably her closest friend as well. Keira was stuck between a rock and a hard place. She had two choices, and it was very hard to choose one over the other.

When Ciel commented, her heart skipped a beat. Had she really been that obvious? Did he know why? She had told him about Max already, she was pretty sure, but not much else beyond the fact that there was a guy named Max who was her boyfriend. So maybe there was a chance... No, Ciel's a smart guy. It doesn't take a genius... Keira felt a little guilty not just coming out and saying it to him straight rather than doing what she was doing now.

Clearing her throat slightly, she smiled gently and said, "Ah, you noticed? Sorry about that. It was really good, and I realized on my way here that I hadn't eaten anything." There she went again, covering up the truth. Well, somewhat. What she told to him was a part of it; she had really only eaten a granola bar that day due to working on a stack of lab results that had come in on some brand-new tests they had run on last week's patients.

Keira could feel the tensions in the room rise a little bit, which meant she should have been more prepared for what was coming. When Ciel stretched and started making excuses of his own to end dinner early, it became pretty obvious that he had figured out she at least wanted to leave early for something, and she felt worse than before. I should have just said something. "Oh..." For a minute, she forgot what to say or do since it had kind of caught her off guard for a little. Then she finally stood up. It seemed too awkward to bring everything up now, so she guessed she would just continue playing the game until it ended and explain to him the next day. It wasn't the most ideal situation, but it was the best she could come up with. Pretty sad for someone who's basically a genius, isn't it?

"Right, the lab reports, I mean tests," Keira finally said as she came back to her senses. "You must have had a long day. Sorry for forgetting." She cleared her throat a little as she tried to push away the awkwardness of the situation. "At least let me help with the dishes. I've been doing those for a long time, so I'm pretty good at being quick." Before he could say anything, she had gathered up all the dishes and rushed over to the sink where she pulled out the soap, a sponge, and a towel, determined to start and finish before he could tell her otherwise.

[So sorry about the super late reply... Didn't have time to write even though I have the idea running in my head every time I looked at the forum. Been busy at work..New job, new responsibility]

Lilia smiled gently, focused on what Aaron was saying by the movement of his mouth. She nodded and followed after the young man. Of course she couldn't hear the howls that pierced the silent night. Despite that, she could feel something was different when she noticed how tense both Aaron and Kida had become. She knew the forest isn't really safe at night especially with predators prowling in the dark. Somehow, she didn't regret staying out till this late. Lilia felt safe for a while but still...

"Is there something wrong?" She asked before she could refrain herself.

The howls had gotten louder by the minute as if it is closer.. Bushes rustle, twigs snapping and smaller animals chattered in fear as they rush to hide from being the next meal. Something like a squirrel suddenly jumped out from the bushes and in a haste climbed up Lilia before disappearing into a nearby tree. Struck by the sudden event, Lilia yelped in fear and walked backwards, only to trip over some protruding roots and fell hard on her back. "Ouch..." was all she could manage to say. Okay..that was so embarrassing.

There were three of them, prowling, in search for food. While two were just regular wolves, the last one was so different. She may look like a wolf but still have qualities of a human. Black fur covered every inch of her body. She sports a pair of wolf ears and a long black tail while her hands and feet had turned into paws, nails were sharper. While she didn't have a snout, her teeth were sharp, just like a canine. Another thing that set her apart from regular wolves were the colour of her eyes, emotionless glowing red. However, she was considered small, only growing to how her human size was which was why her clothing was still intact. Only her trousers was slightly shredded. Crouching, she sniffed the air. Her ears pricked when she heard a distance shout and immediately sprang on all four toward the sound. The pair of wolves followed after her.

------

So that was awkward.. Ciel scolded himself for acting like that. While he was trying to cover up, he realised Keira would know either way. She was way smarter than that. Ciel rubbed the back of his neck. He didn't mean to make the whole situation so...unpleasant. He raised an eyebrow when Keira quickly took over dish washing duty from him. Shaking his head, he grinned slightly at her antics. "Alright alright...You can do the dishes." While she was doing that, Ciel grabbed a damp cloth and began to wipe the table clean.

"So...How do you met him? I meant your boyfriend....Max it is?" He asked, glancing over his shoulder. Can't blame him for being curious since Keira had just sprung the announcement of her having a boyfriend earlier today. "And how long have you been dating?" He added.

[Yep..Super rusty]

[[ You know, I think late replies are just our thing. It works for us, right? Besides, at least you replied in the same year as my last reply. I'm only replying now... just 2 years after my last post.

So sorry it took so long though. I know I said I'd post a while ago, but life keeps throwing lemons at me without giving me anything to make lemonade with. :P
]]

The howls were increasing, both in volume and intensity. Despite his efforts to continue on, Aaron was finding it harder and harder to pretend there was nothing going on. Kida seemed to be picking up on this as well. The German Shepherd stopped in her tracks and began circling around the two young adults, sniffing the air and looking around with her sharp eyes as she took on a defensive stance. She was protecting them. Aaron had stopped by this point as well, and he subconsciously put an arm out in front of Lilia to keep her behind him.

"Is there something wrong?" He heard her ask. Before he could answer, the girl was spooked by a squirrel. Despite his attempts to catch her, she tumbled backward and landed on her back. Aaron immediately stooped down next to her and examined her for any injuries.

"Are you hurt?" He her hair out of her eyes a little with a concerned look on his face. The small fiasco had drawn Kida's attention as well, but not for long since something arrived shortly after that. The dog's growling drew her owner's attention, and Aaron tensed as he spotted the source of the howls. Three wolves had appeared, and this would not have made him so nervous if the third hadn't been... different.

Aaron had no idea how to put what he was seeing into words. He wasn't even sure if he could call it a wolf. The third one was clearly female, for she had some oddly human-features that stood out among her canine features. The fact that she was wearing clothes was just one of those dead giveaways. A werewolf? The idea sounded crazy even in his mind. Those only existed in fairytales, he was sure, even though there was something very close to it standing in front of him right now. He was beginning to feel strange though, and not just because of what was standing in front of him. His skin was prickling like his whole body had fallen asleep, and his heart rate and breathing were increasing. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but there was something about being surrounded by these wild creatures that seemed to be calling to something in him, something that felt like it was trying to get out somehow.

Kida's fur stood on end as she sized up the three of them. She was clearly outnumbered, but this did not seem to phase her or make her think otherwise about planting herself between her humans and these creatures. There was suddenly a shout from somewhere in the distance, and if Aaron hadn't been so tense from focusing on the things in front of him, he would have been startled by it. What did startle him, however, was when the three of them suddenly lost all interest in their trio and bounded off into the forest after the other sound.

It took a few moments for Aaron to realize that they had gone. His head was spinning, and he felt like his insides were on a roller coaster without him. A low groan escaped him as he put his hand on the ground to steady himself. His original intention from the moment those things arrived was to pick Lilia up and go, but now, he wasn't sure he could even walk himself. His head slowly began to clear, and he tried to forget about the feeling as he asked Lilia, "Are you okay? Are you hurt? Can you walk?" Meanwhile, Kida had taken to sniffing him with her ears pricked up. There was obviously something about her boy that was intriguing her all of a sudden.

✦✦✦✦✦✦

Scrub, rinse, drying rack; Scrub, rinse, drying rack... Keira was on autopilot as she followed through the same steps with each of the dishes and utensils. She smiled a little at Ciel's reply. He didn't try so hard at convincing her otherwise on small things like this since he was smart enough to know by now that her decision couldn't be changed. Doing dishes always made her feel better when she was nervous or stressed, much to Max's amusement.

At his question, she cleared her throat a little and said, "Oh, um, yeah, Max..." She paused as she put a plate on the rack.

"Remember that modern sciences conference I went to last year for 3 days with Lincoln? He was one of the coordinators there, and he was put in charge of our team and helped us get set up for the presentation. We had some technical difficulties with some of the equipment, but since we were presenting on the 3rd day, we could get it worked out. He helped a lot, and we spent a lot of time together since I was on computer duty." She glanced at Ciel from over her shoulder, a little nervous about how he might be reacting to all of this.

"We talked a lot and connected on a lot of things, but I thought that would be it. Once the conference finished, we went our separate ways. Well, fast forward to about 9 months later, and suddenly I run into him in the supermarket. It turns out he got transferred to our area. After we went out a couple of times for lunch and dinner, we made it official. "Official" hasn't been that long though. We've known each other for a year, but we've only been "official" for about two weeks now."

For some reason, telling Ciel all of this was making her nervous all over again. As she went to dry one of the bowls and put it away, she forgot that she had put it right side up. As a result, it was full of soapy, cold water, which she promptly dumped on herself, thoroughly soaking her white shirt. Keira gasped and immediately put the bowl down and went to look for a towl instead.

[[Should we do something to celebrate the fact that this has lasted for 5.5 years now?? :derr: ]]

((Yep.. Slow and steady.. But I had to read back to refresh where we are heading since it had been a while..XD))
((No worries... Working or Studying right now?))

Lilia grimaced in pain but felt a little better when she noticed the boy had knelt beside of her, checking to see if she had any injuries. Despite the dark, she was able to make out his question.
"I'm fine.. A little spooked out and maybe bruised but other than that, I think I'm fine." She assured. Lilia tried to move her legs and rotate her ankles. There was no pain so she could easily rule out that there was no sprain. Only her bottom was sore from the fall.

Although she couldn't hear but her other senses were sharper. Lilia could feel when the atmosphere began to tense. Her eyes widened, startled when three wolves appeared out of nowhere and stalked them. Their eyes gleamed with hunger. The girl noticed that one of the wolves was different; not entirely wolf but some sort of a hybrid between a human and wolf. A werewolf perhaps? But that was far-fetched as werewolves only appear in stories. Lilia was too stunned to get up and even if she could, she knew she couldn't outrun these canines.

Their snout/mouth curled and they growled, eyes focusing on the prey in front of them. Lilia was shaking with fear, her mind muddled at the thoughts of being food for these predators. However, she was glad that she wasn't alone out there. But as sudden as they appeared, they unexpectedly took off in the opposite direction when they heard something.

Lilia breathed out with relief when they were left alone again. She yelped in surprise when she saw the boy almost stumbled, placing his hand on the ground to keep himself from falling. Instead of worrying about himself, Lilia was astounded when he frantically firing questions, checking to see if she was alright. "I'm really fine.." She chuckled. "You should worry about yourself more. Seem like you are in worse shape than me." She added, noticing that the boy's forehead was glistening with sweat, some rolling down the side of his face. Lilia reached up, placing a hand on his forehead while checking her own. "You have a fever." She exclaimed.

"Come on. Let get back before you got worst." She urged and struggled to stand up. Lilia dusted the dirt from her clothes, flinching when she touched her sore bottom. Well, there definitely some bruises. "You can lean on me if you have trouble walking..." She offered.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
His hand froze as he listened to Keira, involuntarily clenching the table cloth. His mouth was dry and he felt a little restless. Ciel could even hear his heart slowly breaking as she recount her story. Maybe it was a bad idea. "Well that seems like fate." He calmly said, making sure that his emotion didn't slip. He turned around to face her, leaning against the table.

"Well congrats on getting out of singlehood. I thought it would take you more years before getting a boyfriend." He joked, trying to conceal his depression. "And no wonder you keep rejecting on lunch & dinner with me those few times. You have a date." He added nonchalantly. "But I'm kind of sad that you kept this secret for so long. After all, I'm your best friend... I guess it is "was" now."

Ciel immediately stood up straight when he heard her gasped but looked away when he realised what had happened. His face was slightly pink as his mind kept replaying the scene. He could see her colored undergarment through her soaked white shirt which stirred his emotion and thoughts.
"I insist that you change your shirt.. It's chilly outside. I'm afraid that your dear boyfriend would come at me if you were to fall sick under my watch." He said. "Just pick a shirt from my wardrobe... you know where my room is." He added before walking over to the living room so that she could have some privacy.

***
Ciel who was rested on the couch suddenly sat up, alarmed. He just remembered.
On top of his bedside table, was a few framed photos of him and Keira; in different place and day but in all photos, they were either laughing or smiling. It was his happy memories.
He dreaded what Keira would think if she noticed those.

((By being more active in roleplaying? :haha: ))

[[ No worries, I always have to refresh, too. Slow and steady is definitely our pace. XD
Right now, I'm sort of in between. I'm supposed to be finishing up an internship, but work has been slow, so I'm on a bit of a break. It's complicated, but I'll be studying again soon...]]

Aaron did his best to pay attention when she told him how she was doing. After all, he was the one who had fired all those questions at her to begin with. It was easier said than done to process her words, however. His head was throbbing, so even though it had cleared up from whatever it was that hit him before, it was still difficult to concentrate. He frowned at the ground and nodded to show that he'd heard and understood her. "That's good," he murmured. Kida's gentle sniffing sounds tickled his ear as she nudged him with her nose and give his cheek a light lick. This distracted Aaron so much that he almost jumped when Lilia put her hand on his forehead.

"Fever?" He mumbled, confused. How could that be? He was prefercely well just a few minutes ago. Since when did fevers come on so suddenly? Aaron shook his head. "No... That can't be... I'm fine." Watching her struggle to stand toughened his resolve to walk on his own, but that would first require him to stand up. He tried to buy himself a little time by watching her stand and situate herself first to make sure she would be all right.

When she turned to offer him help, he once again tried to convince her that he was fine. "I'll be okay," Aaron insisted gently, but sternly. He cleared his throat and tried not to make his last hesitant look at the ground too obvious before he pushed himself into a standing position, using the nearby tree for support. Offering an awkward smile, he exhaled and muttered, "S-see? I'm fine." Now he just had to back that up by showing her that he could move somewhere without holding on to the tree.

Concentrating on the ground to keep it from spinning out of control, Aaron took a step. This would be a bit more difficult than he had counted on since he had forgotten to calculate in the tree roots. Why was this so difficult? How could so much change in less than ten minutes? Aaron frowned at the thought, but lost his concentration as a result and tripped over a rock a few steps away. He caught himself on another tree and stood there for half a moment, hoping Lilia hadn't seen what just happened. Unfortunately, he already had a feeling that she knew.

"I'm fine," he said, loudly enough for her to hear as he glanced back over his shoulder. He felt achy, most likely due to the fever. How he had gone from perfectly healthy and swimming in a pond to a bedridden feverish state in such a short span of time continued to ellude him, but he pushed the thoughts aside as he tried to come up with more reasons for why he didn't need her help walking. He even went as far as saying, "You can lean on me if you want. That was a hard fall." Aaron convinced himself that he'd be too much of a burden on her, especially considering her fall, and was determined to get himself back home on his own two feet.

"Wardrobe... Your room... Got it." Keira nodded and dashed off up the stairs rather quickly. As she walked, a couple things went through her mind. First and foremost was how cold that water became in a short amount of time. Her shirt was cold! At least it smelled nice. Ciel did have some pretty good dish soap... The sound of his voice as he responded to her story echoed through her head as she thought about him. The more she replayed it, the more guilty she felt. She didn't even have to face him to know the look he had on his face. She knew him.

"I guess it is 'was' now." Those words seemed to stick with her especially. How could he think that? He's still her best friend. Just because Max is in the picture doesn't mean he's not. Why can't she ever explain things correctly?? Keira frowned as she opened Ciel's wardrobe. Her thoughts were so focused on his reaction that she didn't realize she was subconsciously picking her favorite shirt of his -- the plain white one she always thought looked best on him. It didn't take long to change out of her wet one and put on the dry one. Compared to the one Keira was wearing before, this one was warm and dry... and soft... and it smelled like him...

She frowned a little as she realized her mind had wandered and instead looked for something to put her wet shirt in. He didn't seem to have many places to put things in. This didn't surprise her, and she was almost thankful since it narrowed down the number of places she needed to search. This wasn't her first time up here. Although it had been a while, he wouldn't mind her looking for a plastic bag to put her wet shirt in, right? As Keira went to pull open the drawer to his bedstand, she was a little rougher than she intended and knocked over a picture that was sitting on top.

What was wrong with her tonight? Keira muttered a soft curse as she picked it up and made sure it wsn't broken. Whew. The glass and frame were undamaged, and she could set it up where it was before. When she put it down, she was rather surprised to see her own face smiling back at her. Now that she looked, there were a few there with just Ciel and herself. After a moment longer, she decided it would be best to just leave and not read too much into the situation.

Heading back down the stairs, she put on a gentle smile on her face and said, "I'm back. Thanks for letting me borrow a shirt, and sorry for the mess." She put her wet shirt over her arm to brush her hair back a little. The adrenaline from all the recent events -- the water spillage and the pictures -- was wearing away, and she decided not to mention what she had seen upstairs. "Uh, you wouldn't by any chance have a bag I could put this in, would you?" Keira held up the wet shirt. It wasn't dripping, but it would probably be nice to put it some place other than on her arm or on his nice furniture. She assumed she'd just need to take it home and dry it herself. This wasn't an issue, but she could imagine that it could still be a bit until she got to do that.

[[ Haha, fair enough. Hey, I'm replying in the same year as your last reply! I must be improving. :D ]]

((I did it again then I forgot to reply.. Sorry about that. I was pretty sure that I have something type up before. Haven't been online here as much as well but glad that you have bumped it up.. Thank you. Know i have to think back what I was trying to write...XD

That sounds nice.. I wish I can study instead of working. Less burden.
How are you coping with the pandemic? Hopefully everything is okay on your side. ))

Lilia knew he was trying to put up a strong front by assuring her over and over again that he was alright when she offered him a hand. She watched anxiously as he heaved himself up, with the support of a nearby tree. Lilia was unconvinced but fearing that it would hurt his pride, she let him carried on without assisting. Although she was tense, she returned him with an equally awkward smile.

Although he was trying very hard to convince her, Lilia could feel that somehow he was pushing himself. She gasped when she saw Aaron almost tumbled but caught himself just in time. Although it happened in just a few second, she was attentive enough to notice it and how he tried to cover it up. Lilia tilted her head in confusion as he talked over his shoulder. "I'm fine...." For a moment, she thought she could feel or more correctly, hear the soft fragments of his voice. Was she going crazy for imagining? She shrugged and looked at his swaying figure.

She bit her lips gently, slightly frustrated that she couldn't be of any help. Next thing she knew, she was right beside of him, looping her arms around his. Lilia was careful not to put any weight on him. At least now she could lead him around since he was not steady on his feet, even though he was persuading her otherwise. She couldn't help but blush when she thought how close they were since she was never close to anyone but her mother. Thankful, it was dark out there.

"Kida.. Home please." She whispered at the worrying dog, hoping that she would understand her and led them back to his house. Right now her priority would be sending Aaron home since he was not feeling well..and after that, she would just think of a way to get home. Lilia shuddered at the thoughts, remembering that those rogue wolves would still prowl around.

*************************

Ciel almost jumped when he heard her voice, absolutely oblivious when she came down the stairs. "No..no...Don't worry about it. It happens." He said awkwardly. He felt awkward for some reason and since when was Keira so formal with the thanks and sorry? Was he thinking too much or is there a line that she was trying to draw? She sounds like a stranger in his house even though she was here almost a few times a week last time.

"It is fine.. I can help wash it.. Have a few white clothes that I need to wash and couldn't since it wasn't even half full." He lied, taking the wet shirt from her before she could even start to protest. Ciel popped the shirt into a mesh laundry bag before dropping into the washing machine, pouring enough detergent before starting the machine.
"Now you don't have to worry about it and enjoy your date." He said sheepishly although his heart ached when he mentioned about the date. "I would have it dry and iron before returning it to you tomorrow." He added before walking over to his front door.

"Come on.. you wouldn't want to be late right?" He said, holding the front door for her. It was not his intention to chase her away but she was already someone else's girlfriend so there was no point holding her back. "Have fun and see you in the office tomorrow." He said, offering his "best" -fake- smile.

((But you always reply on the same year tho.. haha... ))

[[Haha, no worries. I've been looking at this thread since you first posted and trying to get up the muse to post. It's been kind of a disastrous summer. xD
I'm taking a break from school for the fall. Just kind of burned out. That kind of thing. I'll be back at it again later.
Pandemic-wise, we've been doing pretty well. Lots of time at home, but no cases. I hope you've been doing as well!]]

The world was spinning, and Aaron felt like his limbs were trying to leave his body on their own. It was not pleasant. Somehow though, he miraculously managed to stay upright. Moving was another matter, but he'd get to that later. When Lilia finally came and looped her arm around his, he found surprising relief. Maybe it was the thought of having more than just a tree to remind him the ground wasn't really shaking like a maraca. She was pretty warm, too, which nicely counteracted the chills he was feeling. Hopefully she didn't notice or mind all his cold sweating. This evening was embarrassing enough already.

"Sorry if I stumble," Aaron muttered, forgetting about Lilia's hearing impairment. Chances were pretty good he'd trip again later on despite pretending he was fine, so he figured that apologizing ahead would make up for that at least.

Kida was still trotting around him anxiously. She seemed very alert. Her ears were straight up, and she would pause at even the slightest noise that didn't come from either her human or Lilia. The dog was watching the two of them very carefully as they worked out how to move from their current spot. When the girl started talking, Kida didn't seem to understand at first. She tilted her head as though asking what she meant. There was one word she understood in that sentence: home. The rest, not so much.

As they started moving, Aaron became aware of what Lilia was trying to say to his dog. He cleared his throat and tried not to lose his balance as he momentarily changed his focus to commanding Kida: "Kida, go home." His voice still wasn't at its usual strength, but the command was a bit stronger. Their furry companion understood this time, turned, and started trotting off. She paused about six feet away and turned to see if they were following before continuing.

Even though the journey there hadn't been that long, the journey back felt like the longest trip of Aaron's life. The spinning and sensation of his bones trying to go home faster than the rest of him made it quite the experience. Yet, despite all of that, it felt like his senses were on high alert. The environment felt sharper than ever before. Was he on sensory overload or something? Aaron felt like he kept looking for something--maybe those strange wolves from before. Something had been off about them, but he hadn't paid much attention at the time and couldn't quite lay his finger on it. A few times along the way when he lost his concentration, he stumbled. Once, he nearly fell, but he was usually pretty quick to try and walk off his mistakes. The last thing Aaron wanted was for Lilia to have to carry him back. It was hard enough for her to lead him back to his house in the dark.

When Kida began to bark and speed up, Aaron knew they were back. It took about another minute, but the two of them eventually emerged from the trees and were standing in his backyard. The dog was trotting around in circles before going right up to the back door and standing there expectantly. This was clearly something she had done many times before. After walking Lilia up to the steps, Aaron carefully took his arm from around hers. He was feeling a bit better--certainly better than he was when they first started their journey back from the woods.

"Are you all right?" He asked softly. It was a rather ridiculous question, considering the state he had been in for the past half hour, but his pride still refused to let him admit that he was the worse one. He patted his pockets until he reached in one and fished out the key. Once the back door was open, Kida jumped in immediately. Aaron then ushered Lilia inside before entering himself and closing the door behind him. The world wasn't spinning so much now, but he still ached quite a bit.

The house was dark when they entered. That meant his parents were probably out again. It was a fairly common occurrence. Aaron dropped his keys on the counter next to the microwave while Kida trotted over to get a drink from her bowl in the corner. After turning on the lights, he turned toward Lilia and said, "Uh, feel free to sit. Do you need ice? A drink? Er, food?" His head was still pounding, but he wasn't going to let that get in the way of him being a good host. "I don't think my parents are here at the moment. I hope you don't mind." He walked over to the cupboard and started pulling down glasses.

Kida walked off into the living room and laid down in her bed by the TV. The shelves around the TV were decorated with various souvenirs, photos, and memorabilia of Aaron and his family.

"What? Oh-" Before she could protest or even react, Ciel had her shirt and was stuffing it in the washer. Listening to him go on, Keira felt a whole new wave of awkwardness wash over her. "Um..." She glanced around and absentmindedly smoothed out some of the wrinkles in Ciel's shirt. They would need to talk, but how and when were still things she would need to figure out. It was obvious her announcement rattled him, but seeing his reaction made her feel worse and worse with each minute. As much as she wanted to say something, she just couldn't come up with the words. All she could do was stand there awkwardly and let him go on.

At long last, the moment she had been waiting for arrived: He was waving her out. Yeah, it wasn't really a surprise. That didn't mean it didn't hurt a bit though, but she suspected he was feeling the same way even if it was for different reasons.

Keira walked toward the front door reluctantly after grabbing her things. Before walking out though, she paused when she was next to him. "Thanks for washing my shirt," she said, turning toward him. She sighed and rubbed her arm with her other hand while she searched for the words. "I know I sprung this news on you," she finally said, "and I'm sorry for that. Now isn't the time, but we should talk, okay? You're still my best friend, you know." Part of her wanted to give him a hug, but she held back. That would probably only make this whole thing a lot more confusing. Offering him a small smile, she said, "I'll see you tomorrow." Then she finally stepped out the door and headed to her car.

[[Funny how you bumped this topic yesterday. I was working on this reply starting on the 3rd. Lol, it took a lot longer than I thought it would. Good to know you're still bouncing around here from time to time though!
Oh, also, sorry for making it so long. xD]]

((Actually I saw your post around 8th or 9th but haven't got the time to reply.. Thanks for the bump tho ^.^
Well hopefully the situation is under control although I sometimes wish we could work from home.. So tiring to work in the office.. It was under control till September then suddenly there is a surge in the cases especially in prisons. Now a few states are in 2 week lockdown until the cases drop... Anyway, the cases isn't as many where I live))

Lilia didn't notice when Aaron spoke to her as she was anxiously trying to instruct Kida to show the way back home. Since she didn't own a dog, she wasn't familiar with giving proper order although Kida showed hints of recognizing some words especially 'home'. She was slightly deflated until Kida seemed to pick up something and turned, trotting off. Lilia looked at Aaron, figuring that he probably commanded Kida.
"Let's go...Careful now." She said, trying to lead Aaron and followed after the dog. She was thankful that the dog seemed to slow down and checked on them once a while to make sure that they were following closely behind.

Even though Lilia offered to support him, she could feel no weight from him as if he was trying his best to support himself. There were a few times where he stumbled but he always manage to find his footing before dragging Lilia along. Despite expecting that he would stagger, but that didn't stop her from being stunned every time he stumbled. A few times he tried to brush her off, ensuring that he was walking perfectly fine yet she clung onto him, making sure that he was alright.

Lilia tensed when Kida sped up and disappeared behind the foliage but Aaron showed no sign of uneasiness. Perhaps they were almost reaching his home? Few minutes later, they emerged and Lilia saw a house stood in front of them. Kida seemed to be circling in the backyard before she darted toward the back door when she saw the pair and stood there, waiting. She was led toward the house and up the steps before Aaron removed his arm around hers so that he could fetch his keys.
"I'm alright.. You were the one who were in a bad shape." She answered when she noticed that he was speaking to her.

Once the door was unlocked, she was ushered inside after Kida bolted into the house. Aaron closed the door before he turned off the lights so the room was enveloped in darkness. Lilia stood still until the light was on, afraid that she would knock onto something if she moved around in the dark.
"No no.. I don't mind. Sorry to intrude and thank you for having me." She said politely, flopping onto the sofa. Lilia didn't feel the soreness until she rested on the sofa. What a day.

"A glass of water, please." She said when she saw that Aaron was taking out some glasses from the cabinet. She was a little hungry but it couldn't beat how parched her throat felt at the moment. Lilia looked up and noticed the shelves and cabinets by the television, decorated with various items and photos. Standing up, she ambled toward the shelves and glanced around. "Oh.. You're the only child?" She asked curiously as she looked at a few of the photos.. all bearing the same couple and their son. "Me too.. I'm the only child." She injected.

"You often travel?" She asked in awe as she noticed some foreign trinkets among the memorabilia displayed behind the glass cabinets. Lilia looked at him attentively so that she could read when he spoke..

****

Instantly, Ciel regretted the way he behaved. He knew he reacted way differently than he expected and somehow Keira could sense it even though it was for a different reason. He had no one else to blame but himself... a coward when it came to confession.
He gaped when she apologized. Ciel wanted to say something yet nothing came out from his mouth. All he did was to shrug and nod.

"Careful when you drive." He finally found his voice and bid his farewell. Ciel stood by the door, watching as Keira climbed into the seat of her car, started the engine which roared into life and drove out of his driveaway. He waited till he couldn't see her car anymore before he stepped back and closed the door.

"I'm a fool..." He cursed himself, slumped against the door. He may be a genius in solving complicated problem but he was absolutely rubbish when dealing with emotion. Ciel wasn't able to come clean with his feeling and there would be no chance for him to do so in the future. Ugh, he felt sick again...sick of himself. It took a while before he was back on his feet. "No use crying over spilled milk now." He thought. Even though he looked calm on the outside but in the inside, he was absolutely a mess. Maybe working would clear his mind. "Yes..yes.. work.." He mumbled, slowly climbing up the staircase toward his study room.

((Yea.. It was dangerously at the bottom of the roleplay forum so I thought I should bump it up before it disappeared..
Yep especially now since it is almost Halloween.. Can't miss those new creature release eh.
And don't worry about it.. Long is good.))
