Re: FAQ: The Frequently Asked Questions thread (Update Sept)

Post by ToxicFlame »

Sorry to pester anyone, but I've read the rules and I'm not sure on the answer here...

I have an excess amount of 0.00% frozen eggs (I like to collect one o.oo frozen egg of each species but I have an excess of many) and I thought it'd be fun to be an open ended raffle for them. Like a flat rate of like 500g or something and then you randomly get one of the eggs - and they could be anything from stream born to event born to whatever. Does this violate any rules? Anyone have any modification suggestions if they do?

Please and thank you, and Happy Holidays~

Raffles are threads that give away creatures by random chance. The tickets available in a raffle may be limited or unlimited in number. Every ticket must have the same price and the same chance of winning. A raffle has to include an ending time no longer than six month after the raffle has been started that determines when tickets can no longer be bought.
Don't know if that helps any or not - looks like you can't just offer a random egg for a set price - that isn't a raffle? :t-shrug:

It sounds like it would have lots of eggs though. Like, everyone buys a ticket for 500g and every ticket wins an egg, but the egg you get is decided at random. If I'm understanding properly (like an 'everyone is a winner' sort of raffle)

Exactly. Like you will always get something, but it'd be a game to see what you get. You spend 500g, you might get a koi, you might get like a rare creature or something. I wanted to get rid of my extras, cuz some of them are nice and I know a lot of people keep 0.00 frozen eggs, but I didn't wanna do it if it's against the rules or anything...

I think something like that would be within the rules yeah.
All the tickets would have the same price (500g) and have the same chance of winning (since everyone is a winner), and the prizes are decided by chance (idk how, maybe each egg is assigned a number or something), and presumably the ending time would be 'once tickets for all the eggs have been purchased'.

Thanks for the help, everyone. I decided to just put it in the LTS section as a "Pachinko" style game since it's technically not a raffle, and if it's popular I'll turn it into a permanent shop over in Mercado. But I messaged a mod about it asking for advice, so I think I got everything sorted!
Link in my sig if you wanna try your luck!

Basically it 'protects' a tab/tabs in that, people can see the creatures in it, but they won't grow when clicked(useful if you're say, holding a sale of auction with hatchlings and don't want them to grow, or like me you want to show off a hatchling collection but people can't be trusted not to click).
And it's permanent. Once you buy it you can protect as many tabs as you want(or unprotect them if you change your mind).

The Spell of Cloaking is similar, except the tab is hidden from view so neither it nor the creatures in it can be seen by anyone but you.
omg so freaking useful thank you, getting fed up throwing all my hatchies at poor Anna
Well, this doesn't necessarily always work! I have the Spell of Protection and put a Donec Fish hatchling in a tab that I created for quest requirements. I needed 2 male hatchlings. Unfortunately, my one and only Donec hatchling grew up! Is it possible that because I placed the egg in hatcheries when first acquired that it continued to receive clicks, despite moving it out of the Main tab and the SoP? If so, is there a way to remove an egg that hatches from the hatcheries? Thanks.
Please do not mine my Keep. However, whatever I have in the Main tab is open for clicks, should you feel so inclined. Thanks for understanding (and for any clicks!)

If you had it in this tab ~> https://magistream.com/user/Reinbeaucha ... for-Quests

Any clicks the hatchies would get would continue to make it grow - as it is right now the tab is NOT protected. When it is protected the color of the tab changes to this color...

And you can't protect your main tab in case you didn't realize it.

As for removing hatchies - I usually just put mine into the to hatchie only part of the nursery. Or you can use the remove link too....

So how do I activate the Spell of Protection? Do I have to buy another one? I thought any creature not in the main tab was protected by it.

Look above your tab list where the embed multiple and inventory buttons are. For the cloaking spell there's a button on the end that says hide tab. I'd imagine the protection button says something like protect tab. Click that button while in the tab you want to protect and voila your tab is protected.
