I grew up with hunting and herding dogs, as well. Our Coonhounds, Heelers, Border Collies, Brittanies, Weimaraners, Great Pyrs, Beagles, even Rat Terriers all had jobs. My uncle had Dachshunds. The full-size guys (which, like Basset Hounds, are larger than most think). They were varmint hunters like the Terriers, but instead of the barn they were out in the fields going down groundhog holes, fox dens, etc so they could be filled in before the horses or cattle broke a leg. Did you know they were originally bred to go into BADGER holes and dispatch them? Dachshunds are built low to fit into the burrows and are very, very muscular in the front of the body to be able to brace and pull the animal out of its hole backwards while it digs forward trying to get away. The long muzzle means a large chunk of the rear can be grabbed and that the mouth fits around the broad back of the neck to give the kill bite. They are tough, brave working dogs. The minis not so much, but if they are bred properly they still have high prey drive and the instinct to go to ground and can be used like Rat Terriers for vermin disposal.

No, the hotdog is not a permanent creature, it is the April 1st limited creature.
