November is fast approaching, and with it, this year's NaNoWriMo! For those who don't know, NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month, a thing where you try to write 50,000 words in the month of November. You can find out more at https://nanowrimo.org/

Who will be participating this year? What will you be writing about? Feel free to share your profile if you want to find writing buddies here!

I don't know if I'll be doing it this year. I tried like two years ago and ended up getting stuck after 18k words lol

I have yet to actually hit 50k ever, but I do like trying every year! If nothing else, it makes me sit down and write a bit more

I mean, that's true. I just don't work well with deadlines (which really sucks, considering the world we live in). Like, once I start falling behind, I get so stressed and beat myself up over it. And that makes me fall behind even more cause I'm too busy panicking to actually write lol

Oof, that is such a mood. I'm very much the sort of person who needs a deadline to motivate me, but at the same time, if I fall too far behind, I very much start to have trouble convincing myself to bother :derp:

This is my 8th year doing NaNoWriMo! I started out with a novelette that I've had in my head for a few years. Now I'm starting to wrap that up (though I still have some work to do on it) and adding a new project. I couldn't think of any ideas for a new project so I've actually decided to use tarot card draws as prompts to develop a story. We'll see how it goes; I might fall on my face pretty quickly ...

To be honest, I'm mostly on forums right now to procrastinate actually writing, so I should get down to that.

My advice when you're worried about deadlines is just to remember that even if you don't reach 50k, you have more words written than you would have if you didn't try at all. It's better to have 18k, or 6k, or 3k, than nothing!
