I rolled my eyes. "With what? I'm not even allowed to have a nerf gun, where would I get a weapon?"

The investigator reaches under the table. "You used this." He pulled a large evidence bag on the table. Inside sat a biology textbook, one corner matted with dried blood and that I hoped wasn't her brains. The sight of it made me want to throw up.

I blurted out, "That's not mine."

"Your name was on the inside cover."

"Well. . . ." The gears were churning in my head, trying to think of anything to prove my innocence. "Did you dust it for fingerprints? DNA? Whatever else it is you cops look for?"

The interrogator hesitated. "Not yet," he admitted. "But until then, you're our primary suspect. We're keeping you here until a trial can be arranged."

I shot up. "What?" But the interrogator was already on his way to the door the cops coming in to grab me. "I'm tellimg you I didn't do it!" I struggled as they led me to a cell and locked me inside.

The evidence will come out eventually, and I'll be free.

Then I'll find out who really killed my sister. And they will pay.

Thus began a new history, on a new earth, with a new people. This uninhabited world we would call our new home, full of resources that we needed to survive and go back to how things once were. The mothership had all that we needed, old dusty mining machines and oil pumps from Saudi Arabia.
Whatever happened to the old earth, you ask. Well, it is simple, we had leeched everything from it, turning lush green into a monoculture of brown and grey. The advancements we made were fantastic, terrific, and only because of our innovation did we manage to find a new home. Don't dwell too much on it, there is nothing to worry about now. Take heart that we still have solid ground under our feet, and the sky is clear and blue.
What does that mean? Pollution, young man, dominated most of our lives in the past century. We made our past home uninhabitable. Now, the mothership-.
No, there are very few memories of... whatever you said... A rhinoceros, a rhinoceros young man. There may be a few books in the library, in the forbidden section, that may help you. I cannot tell you much more, but please, do not be like those of the past 600 generations. Nurture and protect this new planet, this new country. Please.

The tiger growled, its fur in a haphazard bristle, and it was coming ever so closer...

It's lips were curled up, exposing the old, broken teeth that lay underneath. The little kitten crawled back, but could not go any further, for the cliff had scraped against his back and tail. He stared at it, old and skinny, as it crept closer, but had no courage to do anything about it.

"P- please... Please don't kill me... I'm not worth it." The small cat begged, his meows broken and shaky. The tiger gave a lowly chuckle "Any easy prey is worth it." Her voice was a low, spine chilling hiss, and the kitten could hear something... unnatural in it as well. Bowing down, his eyes started to water, and he stumbled on his words.

"I- I'll get you more food! Easy food! My human is a farmer, I can get you all kinds of livestock!" It was true, but it felt like a last minute lie as it spilled out of his mouth. How could he possibly betray his human like that? It didn't matter now, survival did. And he might just survive like this. Additionally, he can just have his human go and kill the wretched thing once he gets back.

"Oh.." The tiger seemed to be pleased with this, and was no longer snarling. She sat down, exposing her clearly visible ribs. "Is that so?" The cat jumped up "Yes, yes! All you could want and more." at this point he had decided to just trick the foul creature and be done with it.

"And you promise that?" it seemed as if she was trying to lead him somewhere mentally. The she tiger then extended one paw out almost to touch him, but her claw hovered just above his head. "Yes!" he was quick to answer, so sure in his 'cunning' plan.

The claw hovering above him connected to his head in the same instant, and a burst of black smoke shot up from the cat's forehead. "You made a fine deal." The tiger's voice sounded completely hellish now, no trace of natural anywhere. He shrieked in pain as a symbol burned itself on his forehead, sending him tumbling down and twisting.

"Let's make sure you keep it."

Prompt: Here were dragons

Here were dragons. A statement you had been forced to endure, to remember. A blatant slap to face when you thought back.
It was beautiful, they were beautiful. Such beauty came sputtering out from an old cardboard box. 'Here be dragons' written on the front. Origami dragons of different color flying around the dull room, playful and kind- though holding secrets of their own.
Just the memory of the living pieces of paper brought an overwhelming feeling of sadness.
Yes, they were there, but because of everyone forgetting them, forgetting that fantasy is real too- everything was destroyed.
The ox was gone- the dragons gone. They were there- we were there- and now they were gone. Gone forever, scraps of paper once alive, torn and shredded by a war beyond reality.
There was nothing you could have done, but you wished to have died with them, in their world.
You pick up the small book, open up a cardboard box and grab some paper of different colors.
Maybe you could try, maybe you could do it.
You grab the paper and start the task, holding each lifeless origami dragon to your chest before lowering them into the box, first one, then five, then fifteen.
It got out of hand.
The book was placed within the box, and then the dragons too, and on the front in messy words you wrote the phrase you hated and loved.
'Here be Dragons.'
Days and weeks passed by, and everyday you opened the box to whisper in- the secrets those dragons told you, or wars and creatures unknown to us, unknown to the reality were grounded in.
And then, one morning, you heard it sputter- and a dragon came flying out.
Yes, here were dragons, and here they be once more.

(hope that was good?)

TheXDarkXDragoness wrote:Prompt: Write about a character who has just seen something far against their morals along the side of the road as they came home. Whether it is a kidnapping, a beating, a theft, or something else, what does your character do about it? Do they get hurt? Do the stop the act successfully? Did they misread the situation?

It was late afternoon when I finally got done with my job. The sun was just barely beginning to set. In my hand I held a bat, while my free hand gripped my bags strap. It was tough working random jobs simply to earn a living, but I'd managed so far.
As I was making my way to my rickety apartment, I caught a faint sound. Pausing, I looked around quietly, what was that I just heard? Suddenly I heard a clatter of trashcans on the alley way up ahead on my right. Warily, I slowly made my way over and peered around a corner.
A pretty girl was getting jumped by two men, one holding her bag and the other trying to pry her away from it. With a growl, my grip on my bat tightened. Just as they yanked her bag out her grip, I charged into the alley way.

WHACK
WHAM
THUMP

I nailed the first man with a hit to his jaw, then to his knee. He fell to the ground with a shout of pain. Slamming my bat into his back, I turned my glare on his friend. The dude looked pretty mad. He had the nerve to charge at me.

TWACK

All it took was one hit.
After I had nailed him in the groin and taken back the girls bag, I managed to chase them off by swinging my bat wildly. After I was sure they were gone, I adjusted my bags strap and looked at the girl.
"You good?"
She stared at me as if I was an angel or something- well, more like a deer caught in headlights. Ha, me, and angel. I was a girl wearing a bandanna around my forehead, tattered hoodie, worn jeans, worn out boots, and carrying a bat. On top of that, I'd just beaten the daylights out of two men. I wasn't about to blame her for looking at me like that.
"I'm fine now, thanks to you."
She had the voice of an angel. I nodded and looked towards the alley opening. I'd had my fair share of beating some dudes up for the day, and now I just wanted to get to my lumpy mattress. It was better than standing around awkwardly. Specially' cause' she kept staring.
As I made my way out the alley and down the sidewalk, I heard the sound of her shoes hitting the ground after me. It wasn't long after that I felt her grab my bicep and halt my steps.
"Wait-Wait! I just wanted to, um, repay you?"
Lord, she was prettier up close. I looked away from her wide brown eyes framed by her curly black hair, and down at her manicured hand.
"You don't need to do anything, just get safe-"
"I insist that you let me treat you to dinner."
Taken aback by her bold statement, I met her gaze in shock. I couldn't help but notice that she dark freckles against her already beautiful dark skin tone. Lord give me strength.
"I- what?"
"I'll take you right now. There's a restaurant not to far from here, come on. I'm Danielle by the way."
"...Jen."

Who knew that kicking some robbers butts would get me a girlfriend? I was just helping her out. After all, I hate dudes that attack some girl.

Until next time,
The True Potato Lord
Not long after the creature said that one word, I stared in horror as the its hands floated towards me slowly. I tried to back away, but I couldn’t move. My feet were held down by the same substance that made up the creature. I was stuck. I couldn’t fight. My arms wouldn’t move either, they were also held against my hips by the sticky, black substance. I tried screaming for mercy, but no sound came. The creature moved even closer towards me, its red, piercing eyes staring into my own. Then, without any warning, it opens its jaws wider than what would normally be possible for a human being, and lunged toward me.

Everything went dark.

The last thing I heard was a loud crunch, followed by a sickening squish.

I stood frozen before the majestic beast after managing to squeak out a "Hello." I was now frozen with mortification. What a good first impression that must have been.

The dragon stared at me for what felt like an eternity before making the same growl-snort sound and walking past me and going out of the café.

I stared after him, bewildered. The server's soft chuckle brought me back to my senses.

"He does that. Don't mind him," he said with amusement, then gave me the drink I ordered.

I thanked him and went for my money pouch, but the man held a hand out to stop me. At my questioning glance, he said.

"From the house." He winked and went to serve another customer.

"I am sorry I couldn't be the child you wanted."
-----------------------------------------------------------
The young male, raven black in color, with his back splattered in crimson, like blood, cowered. His father, as beautiful and white as the first fallen snow, towered above him with a menacing look in his pale eyes, despite his much larger disposition.

"How dare you.." Snarled the lighter dragonoid, the fans of feathers on his head, arms, legs and tail puffing out to their full extent "How dare you claim you are the child of my beloved!?" His teeth clattered furiously with each word, snapping just short of the other's nose. Head lowered, the black male took a few steps back, his own much longer feathers glued to his body. "She was the most beautiful dove there was, with coat of most soothing blue and feathers that rivaled the great goddesses! And yet you, a mangy, dull rook, dare claim such a feat in front of me!"

The accused winced, drawing back more. It hurt him that this rook, who is without a doubt his own father, would talk in such manner. True, his mother was much in contrast with him, but it made him no less her son. Perhaps his father was just confused, he did believe he had lost a mate and an egg, perhaps if he explained... "B- but, it is true..." He muttered weakly, an odd sight from a dragonoid almost twice the other's size.

The white, stripped male snorted in disgust "You lowly maggot.." The insult came followed with with a lunge, which the younger creature could not be fast enough to dodge, the long, hooked teeth sinking into the already crimson flesh of his side. The dark male screeched in pain, surprise and terror, his emerald eyes showing every emotion he felt with great detail. For a moment, those emerald eyes, rimmed with black where should be white and with pupils now but two slits, met with the pale gaze of the other, and in the same instant, he let go, shaking his head with obvious pain.

What the older dragonoid muttered next, the younger could not tell, but 'her eyes' was audible and very much enough for him to understand why the other let go. But the white dragon still bared his now bloody fangs. "Go, and never come back." The tip of his tail was swishing in anger, but his eyes betrayed pain "If you do, I will kill you."

The young creature nodded, turned around and left, trailing blood from where the bite tore his flesh, but he left at peace. Even though he is not what his father wanted, even if the circumstances are as they are, he was happy to know that his father at least acknowledged him, and that at least he has someone to call kin after so long being alone in the world.

Cold, the air that was once so cold was letting up. The icy forest finally giving way to what lays beyond those ice enshrouded trees. The snow that fell endlessly slowed to a crawl, almost halted. The torch was lifted up slowly, and then it was evident just what this small team of researchers had came upon. Frozen in a huge chunk of ice, a family of dinosaurs, small, lithe, deadly. Velociraptors and utahtraptors, likely roaming packs of them about to engage in a fight. The call was set and within a couple weeks, the samples were retrieved, the creatures inside untouched, as the ice was lifted and chipped carefully around each one, and cautiously air lifted back to the warmer climate of the specialized labs of Greenland.

From the lab they were all assigned with a tag, stuck on while they were still encased, and the ice slowly let to melt and release the creatures from their cold prisons, into the large cages of what they simulated life would have been like, one at a time. Finally, the first raptor was released, one of the Utahraptors, and in those signature tones of something primal, a small screech emitted, and it flopped down. They lived, all of them lived in those multiple millenia encased in the cold beyond. Now, it was time to see if humans could test their mettle and overcome their wildest imaginations, and tame the creatures from far back.

The palace that shines like opals, huh? Located on a seaside cliff this palace is cut off from public view. You can only find it, if you know what you're looking for. It's beautiful from the outside; tall glistening gates, and beautiful white stone walls surrounded the outside of this magnificent palace. I thought to myself before I walked in, "This is the most beautiful place I have ever seen." No one was out to meet me at the gates, and for a moment I had turned to leave. Maybe I wasn't welcome? However, it calling me to walk inside. So I walked up to the pearly gates and I placed my hands on either side and pushed them open! They gave in easily and with an eerie creek opened to let me in.
On closer inspection in the walls of the palace, everything seemed to glisten similar to an opal, or a pearl. Even the walkway and grasses glistened with this aura. I was so caught up in this beauty that I hadn't noticed that I was the only person here. I hadn't seen another person since I walked into the walls.
I continued to walk along the beautiful stone path. Marveling at the beauty. I slowly made my way up the opal stairway to the palace doors. No guards stood, no one was here to meet me, and no one answered when I knocked. Now the silence, and eeriness of the palace had started to settle within my bones. I stood at the door debating should I go inside. My curiousness got the best of me, I needed to know why this palace was the way it was.
I planted my hands against the large shiny doors and pushed with all the strength I had! I looked into the entrance hall, and my blood ran cold. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end.
The once beautiful opal coloured floors of the castle, where now stained with a deep crimson.
