'... and a Spicalx.' As you affix a parchment to a post under the Keep's wishing-tree, something calls out in the night - a soft, distant *hooOOOoonk*. You think nothing of it even though you don't quite recognize the call. It's probably some magi' s hopefully tamed and not-ravenous creature, and the seasons are too young for that sort of festively overzealous cursebearing Halloween crankerthing. The wishing-tree sighs as you turn to leave. The Keep's blooms are gracing the air tonight, and the soft night sky is shimmering with firefiles. It's intoxicating and you're tempted to stay out, but it's late and you really - *HOOOOOOOOOONK* That sounded a little too close for comfort, and you really should run back to your double warded award-winning adaptive hexacountercursed corner of the Keep and hide under your triple protection runed all-element resistant guaranteed premium angora blanket. BOOM. CRASH. Something hurts. A wall has run into you - or did you run into a wall? Your face is wet. You remember something about a declaration Thane made Keep magi out stay endangered protected highly Rose Imp bushes bad conservation very bad bad! Your hands scrabble wetly against the hard floor. You're kind of confused, and as you figure out which way is up your nose informs you something reeks of wet cabbages. Someone helps you up, or more accurately pulls you up by your collar. 'Hooont.' They're very concerned. It examines your wounds and you examine the gently spiny, rough yet slimy beast. You're a little scratched from your encounter with horticulture, but you're okay and very much intact. Satisfied with your condition, the Spicalx makes an unwritable noise. It rolls something towards you before staying completely still and, remarkably, camouflaging in the now very-dented-and-rotten-cabbagey rose bush. You pick up the egg and flee the scene - hopefully Thane will simply appreciate it as a work of topiary art in the morning.
