So, no Easter event this year, or ?
Re: So, no Easter event this year, or ?
I use Yarolds and http://www.pethatchery.co.uk/ms_addhatchery.php , and I've been able to hatch a couple batches of eggs a day. If you put 'em in the click threads, that boosts the speed way up. Definitely doesn't take me 2-3 days.

Re: So, no Easter event this year, or ?
Sadly, I just don't have the extra time for the click threads anymore, which is why I rarely pop in them (and I detest Yarolds, as to have it work, it's also a huge time suck).
It may not take tons of extra time, but it does take some extra time, and when you're balancing a million plates without even some time to spare, it's a bit hard.
Which is why my slots are staying empty until an event starts for now. I do tweet my eggs, but unless it's a Koi, they won't hatch just from that.

I click. You click. We all click!

Yeah, yarold's does speed things up a lot. The Pet Hatchery alone is when it takes 3-ish days.

Re: So, no Easter event this year, or ?
It is not currently taking me 2-3 days to hatch my eggs, I am currently hatching a minimum of 3-4 batches per day without the IFN, and I’m not spending all day online doing it, either.BeeNme wrote: We did hatch our eggs before the IFN; it took (takes) 2 - 3 days for mine (and most of ours) to hatch, as opposed to about a day with it. Glad you think only a 'little extra effort' is required, but for most of us it's a lot of effort and is way more time and effort than we have except for short periods of time
This is what I do, if anyone is curious:
1. Put egg/s in signature
2. Enter egg/s into Other Hatchery
3. Enter egg/s into Yarold’s
4. Tweet egg/s
5. Post egg/s in all 3 click threads.
I check back in an hour or so, and if my eggs have not yet hatched, I repeat steps 4 and 5 every hour so so, until the egg/s have hatched.
That is very little effort, I don’t have to be posting constantly, and I am getting eggs hatched in hours, not days.
I am not sure why people are pushing back so hard on this. I too am hoping the IFN is up before the event, but I also realize that 1. It may not be possible for Rosehill to get it up and running in the same time frame the event is scheduled for, and 2. Since the IFN isn’t an official part of MS, we really have no idea whether it’s availability will be taken into consideration or affect the timing of the Spring Event at all. If it isn’t up by then, I want people to know that it will still be possible to get critters!
We also have no idea what the hatch rate might be for the new Spring creatures- not all new creatures need a high click count to hatch- just look at the Adunatonsus! For all we know, they ARE holding off on the release until the nursery is up, or the growth rate on the Spring eggs may end up getting set to a faster rate than it normally would to help make up for the fact the hatchery is down. We just don’t know! I just don’t see any point in getting anxious or upset over something that hasn’t even happened yet.

I'm not trying to be argumentative or anything, I'm genuinely curious- how much time does the click thread take you? I don't know how many eggs you're expected to click, but a page of 'em seems reasonable, and that's not too many things even if you don't have snaplinks. If you do have snaplinks, it's much faster. Either way, it takes, what, five minutes to get an egg set in all three?

Re: So, no Easter event this year, or ?
I think you got that in reverse buddy xD Vila says that it's because of the sites that they've made the eggs to take longer to not hatch and so people who do not have access to outside aid sites will have to wait longer and longerGraveworm wrote:Which was why I was making the point that even without the IFN, eggs can still be hatched within a reasonable time frame. I’ve been catching/breeding eggs of all types, with all the varying hatch rates, the entire time the IFN has been down, and I still manage to hatch multiple batches every day. It’s doable!VilaWolf wrote: The clicks to hatch ratio was adjusted specifically because of sites like twitter and the hatcheries. It now takes longer to hatch an egg because they are getting more clicks from those sites.
Still, I'm gonna try and not breed or grab anything that takes a long time to hatch, just in case, and wait
It's exam time soon so most of my time is going towards reading
This Signature looks so bad on mobile. Good lord it is HUGE. I'll need to work on that at some point. For now though I sleep

Re: So, no Easter event this year, or ?
Not everyone has the luxury of repeating steps 4 and 5 every hour or so. That's where the disconnect would seem to be. Sure, it's not much effort, but if one has limited computer time, it makes a difference. I personally have an hour or so in the morning before work, then a few hours in the evening. I'm not running full batches of eggs at present because I'm being lazy, but pond Koi are sometimes hatching in under a day.Graveworm wrote:It is not currently taking me 2-3 days to hatch my eggs, I am currently hatching a minimum of 3-4 batches per day without the IFN, and I’m not spending all day online doing it, either.BeeNme wrote: We did hatch our eggs before the IFN; it took (takes) 2 - 3 days for mine (and most of ours) to hatch, as opposed to about a day with it. I see that part of the problem is that we have differing ideas on what very little effort is.Graveworm wrote: This is what I do, if anyone is curious:

Put eggs in my signature - almost no effort, also zero to no effect.
Enter into Pet hatchery - very little effort.
Yarold's - takes 30 min. or so to keep clicks up
tweet - don't have twitter
Post in 3 click threads - 5 - 10 mins.
Checking back every hour or so and repeating - impossible on weekdays, very inconvenient on weekends.
The pushback you're seeing is directly to your message that it's our laziness if we hope the IFN is back up soon. If it isn't up in time, we'll still enjoy the event; we'll just have fewer event creatures than we would otherwise.

Re: So, no Easter event this year, or ?
Right now I only do the Pet Hatchery, Twitter and the click threads - and like Graveworm I still am hatching at least 4-5 batches of eggs depending on which ones they are...more if I really work at it.BeeNme wrote:Yeah, yarold's does speed things up a lot. I think the problem with the IFN being down is that people have kinda gotten complacent when it comes to hatching eggs...throw them in and let the gold miners hatch them, Before the IFN was made we all actually helped each other out clicking in the click threads, nowadays half of the posters spam their eggs for gold and don't click then complain that people aren't clicking. Well duh - you don't click others, I won't click you.
And if you don't have time to trot your eggs through the click threads hire a sitter to do it for you. I am retired now so have a lot of time to "play" online now and would be glad to sit for others...but most use the free daycares - which by the way I haven't seen a single person with a free sitting thread post in any of the click threads in a long time...so how's that working out for ya?
Not trying to smack down anyone about how they feel about the subject - JM2CW on it.

Re: So, no Easter event this year, or ?
I agree with what MistyOC mentioned; I'm usually one of the people who works full time, so if I'm lucky, I can get online before I have to leave for work and grab eggs, throw them into the hatchery, click threads and tweet them. then I'm at work for 9+ hours. I have my phone, but if you've ever used this site on mobile; it can be frustrating lol. So then the only time I have to try and hatch eggs, is when I get home from work, and before going to bed. I don't have the luxury of rinse & repeat throughout the day, except on my days off. I'm off the next two days, so I will definitely give your list a try, Graveworm, and see how it works out. :/
I also hope that if the IFN is still down when the event starts, then maybe the hatch rate of whatever potential new critters we get is lowered to compensate. Again, not required, or even expected, since the IFN isn't an official part of the site.
I think the problem with the OTHER hatchery, is that it doesn't get cleaned out like the IFN does. Adults and frozen/abandoned critters stay in there for long periods, and don't get removed like they do with the IFN. So that can really kill a person's incentive to click through it. I know when I click that site, I try to click only eggs I see, since I don't know if people want their hatchlings in there grown or not.
I think I'll play it fairly safe though, and get eggs that are things I collect, so I'll be less likely to toss them if the event starts suddenly and they're not hatched.
