Do you have a small desk lamp or some other small electronic device you can tote around easily? Only way I know of (without a curcuit tester) is to start plugging something in and flipping the switch until you find out which plug goes to which switch. If you have several choices, it could take a while. Or see if someone you know has a curcuit tester.. they make a version that works by plugging the tester into the outlet.. if it lights up, it's a working curcuit. Then you just have to keep testing outlets and flipping the switch to see work works when.

A local electrician suggests using radios for this so you don't have to keep looking to see if the light is on. That works for figuring out which breaker runs what too.

There's also a light switch by the backdoor that...isn't a light switch. What we eventually learned was that when you flip it on, it runs power to an outlet about 20 feet away in the living room. Off, no working outlet. Not sure WHY that's a thing, but it is.

We've got 3 of those, lol. They are for lamps, so you can flip a switch to turn them on and not walk into a dark room. Ours are split wired.. the top half of the outlet is 'hot' and the bottom half is switched. Took us several months to figure it out, because we didn't have any table lamps that needed to be plugged in.

Oh. Well, I guess that makes sense. I still find it weird though. Probably because I'm not one to use a lamp when there's a perfectly good ceiling light near this outlet.


So...my hormones must be kicking in. I got a friend and her young daughter staying with my mom and I for a bit since she's having some life troubles and needed a place to stay. Her daughter has been asking me to teach her art, and I'm actually quite enjoying teaching her. She's a really sweet kid. However, I'm also now having the strong desire for a child of my own.

Looks like I'm picking up bottle kittens today. Local humane society is overloaded with baby kittens and needs some help. All the shelters in the neighboring counties don't even want to try. Their response to the situation is to 'put down kittens that are not old enough to eat on their own.'

You are an angel for saving poor little baby kittens that need a bottle....if I could I would adopt them from that shelter and take care of them and of course keep one or two, the rest I'd take care of till I could find someone to give them a forever home. (unfortunately I live in another state)

Aww, thank you. It's what my mom and I do. We run a bit of a rescue center. Unofficially anyway. We happen to take in animals that people abandon or don't want anymore for wherever reason. We re-home what we can and give a home to those that are unwanted. Even the chickens die of old age here.

That moment when you manage to get a solar AND lunar koi but find out later they can't breed with each other...

I swear the pond is just a scheme by the koi mafia! I bet that's why so many pond critters are unbreedable/can't interbreed; our own koi are in on the scam! They CAN breed and some can even interbreed but they don't in order to make us think they can't because it means we have to gamble more money at their glorified casino.

I swear, I'm such an airhead anymore. I never used to be this bad. I don't know if it's just me being me, or if I still have chemo brain. I consider it hand in hand with my inability to start and read through anything. I just can't concentrate :/
